Part 2 : Particular requirements for forced draught convection heaters
FOREWORD
1)
The formal decisions or agreements of the IEC on technical matters, prepared by Technical Committees on which all the
National Committees having a special interest therein are represented, express, as nearly as possible, an international
consensus of opinion on the subjects dealt with.
2) They have the form of recommendations for inte rnational use and they are accepted by the National Committees in that
sense.
3) In order to promote international unification, the IEC expresses the wish that all National Committees should adopt the text of
the I E C recommendation for their national rules in so far as national conditions will permit. Any divergence between the I EC
recommendation and the corresponding national rules should, as far as possible, be clearly indicated in the latter.

This standard has been prepared by Sub-Committee 59C: Heating Appliances, of IEC Technical
Committee No. 59 : Performance of Household Electrical Appliances.

rt is intended to be used in conjunction with I EC Publication 704-1, First edition, 1982 :
Test code for the determination of airborne acoustical noise emitted by household and similar electrical
appliances, Part 1 : General requirements.
The relevant text of Part 1 as amended by this standard establishes the test code for forced draught
convection heaters.
This Part 2 supplements or modifies the corresponding clauses in I E C Publication 704-1. When a
particular sub-clause is not mentioned in this Pa rt 2, that sub-clause is applicable as far as is reasonable.
Where this standard states "addition", "modification" or "replacement", the relevant requirement, test
specification or explanatory matter in Pa rt 1 should be adapted accordingly.

Part 2 : Particular requirements for forced draught convection heaters
INTRODUCTION
The conditions of measurement specified in this standard simulate, as far as possible, the normal use
of forced draught convection heaters. They take into account the va riations in noise which can occur
from the appliance under test and are intended to ensure reproducibility when the measurements are
made by different laboratories.
It is recommended to consider noise data as pa
rt of performance data.
1. Scope and object
This clause of Part
1 is applicable except as follows :
1.1 Scope
Replacement :
This standard is applicable to electric forced draught convection heaters, (fan heaters),
designed for placing on the floor, table or counter, etc., or for wall-mounting.
This standard does not apply to :
— electric storage room heaters,
— room humidifiers,
— room dehumidifiers,
— air cleaners,
— heaters designed exclusively for industrial purposes.
1.2 Object
Addition:
Requirements for the declaration of noise emission values are not within the scope of this
standard.
Note. — Procedures are being developed by ISO and will be considered in due course.
