This international standard deals with the safety of microwave ovens for household use, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V. This international standard also deals with combination microwave ovens, for which Annex AA is applicable. As far as is practicable, this standard deals with the common hazards presented by appliances that are encountered by all persons in and around the home. However, in general it does not take into account the use of appliances by young children or infirm persons without supervision;playing with the appliance by young children.

Traite de la sécurité des fours micro-ondes è usage domestique. La tension assignée n'est pas supérieure à 250 V. La norme traite également des fours micro-ondes combinés. Pour des fours micro-ondes à usage commercial, voir la EN 60335-2-90.

Ta mednarodni standard se ukvarja z varnostjo mikrovalovnih pečic za uporabo v gospodinjstvu, katerih napetost je manjša od 250 V. Ta mednarodni standard se prav tako ukvarja s kombiniranimi mikrovalovnimi pečicami, za katere velja dodatek AA. V kolikor je izvedljivo, se ta standard ukvarja s splošnimi nevarnostmi, ki jih predstavljajo aparati, in na katere so naletele osebe doma ali v okolici doma. Vendar na splošno ne upošteva uporabo aparatov s strani majhnih otrok ali onemoglih oseb brez nadzora; igranje majhnih otrok z aparatom.
