This standard specifies methods for the measurement, determination and declaration of the noise emission from hand-held non-electric power tools. It also prescribes the loading and working conditions during which the measurements are made. Measurement or determination, under specified load conditions, of the sound pressure level at the work station. Measurement of the noise emission expressed as the sound power level.

Diese Internationale Norm legt Verfahren zur Messung, Ermittlung und Angabe der Geräuschemission von handgehaltenen nicht-elektrisch betriebenen Maschinen fest. Sie beschreibt die Last- und Arbeitsbedingungen, unter denen
a) die Geräuschemission unter festgelegten Lastbedingungen, angegeben als Schallleistungspegel, und
b) der Schalldruckpegel am Arbeitsplatz unter festgelegten Lastbedingungen
ermittelt werden können.
Diese Internationale Norm gilt für typische handgehaltene nicht-elektrisch betriebene Maschinen einschließlich solcher mit reiner Rotation, Schwingschleifer, Exzenterschleifer, Maschinen mit hin- und hergehendem Werkzeug mit und ohne Rotationsantrieb sowie mit und ohne Schlagwerk und einer Vielzahl von Maschinen für die Montage. Diese Norm gilt nicht für mit Kartuschen betriebene handgehaltene Maschinen, Eintreibgeräte (z. B. Nagler, Klammergeräte) und alle Maschinen, die durch einen Verbrennungsmotor angetrieben werden. Auch gilt sie nicht für Aufbruchhämmer oder solche Maschinen, die, wenn sie auf den Markt gebracht werden, Anforderungen des Gesetzgebers erfüllen müssen, der besondere Prüfverfahren und Grenzwerte für die Geräuschemission vorschreibt, wie z. B. bei Maschinen zur Verwendung im Freien.
ANMERKUNG Diese Geräuschmessnorm kann auch bei weiteren Maschinen angewandt werden, wie z. B. Winden, pneumatische Motoren, Bohrer und Gewindeschneider mit automatischem Vorschub, Pumpen, hydraulische Motoren und Schraubenzuführsysteme, vorausgesetzt, dass die Betriebsprinzipien dieser Maschinen denjenigen von pneumatischen oder hydraulischen Maschinen entsprechen.

La présente norme fixe des méthodes de mesurage, de détermination et de déclaration de l'émission sonore provenant des machines portatives non électriques. Elle prescrit aussi les conditions de charge et de fonctionnement pendant lesquelles les mesurages sont effectués. Mesurage ou détermination, dans des conditions de charge spécifiées, du niveau de pression acoustique a la position de l'opérateur. Mesurage de l'émission sonore exprimée en niveau de puissance acoustique.

This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication
of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by September 2002, and conflicting
national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by September 2002.
