This standard specifies the four main types of reusable rigid plastics distribution boxes for application in the fields of handling, transport, storage and display of food and non-food products in distribution systems from the point of manufacture to the point of retail services: These are: a) rigid parallelepipedic and rectangular boxes (stackable boxes) b) foldable boxes c) nestable boxes d) nestable and stackable boxes. These boxes are based on the modular area 600 mm x 400 mm and subdivisions or multiples of it.

Diese Norm spezifiziert vier Grundbauarten von starren Mehrwegtransport- und Lagerbehältern aus Kunststoff für die Anwendung im Bereich der Handhabung, Transport, Lagerung und Darbietung von Nahrungsmitteln und auch Nichtnahrungsmitteln innerhalb des Warenverteilungssystem vom Punkt der Erzeugung bis zu dem Punkt des Letzverkaufes. Diese Bauarten sind: a) starre, quaderförmige Kästen (stapelbare Kästen) b) faltbare Kästen c) nestbare Kästen d) nest- und stapelbare Kästen.

La présente norme spécifie les quatre principaux types de bacs de distribution en plastique rigide réutilisables destinés a la manutention, au transport, au stockage et a l'exposition au sein des circuits de distribution de produits alimentaires et non-alimentaires du fabricant au détaillant. Ces types sont : a) bacs rigides parallélépipédiques rectangles (bacs gerbables) ; b) bacs pliables ; c) bacs emboîtables ; d) bacs gerbables et emboîtables. Ces bacs sont basés sur un module dimensionnel de 600 mm x 400 mm et sur les multiples et sous-multiples de cette surface.
