This European Standard applies to the inspection and main-tenance of bearings designed in accord-ance with EN 1337-1, when used in the construction of bridges or struc-tures requiring similar bearing sys-tems. It presupposes the existence of guidelines for the regular inspection of the whole structure during its service life.
It may also be used as appropriate for the inspection and maintenance of bearings designed and/or installed before the intro-duction of this European Standard.
This European Standard specifies the aspects of each type of bearing that shall be inspected and recorded. It does not specify permissible values. For these reference shall be made to the relevant parts of this European Standard and to the drawings and design calculations for the bearing and the structure.
NOTE 1 Attention is drawn to the par-ticular necess-ity for regular inspection and main-ten-ance of bearings as, with-out such inspection and mainten-ance, premature failure may occur.
NOTE 2 National regulations may exist on the subjects covered by this European Standard and, therefore, they prevail on it.

Diese Europäische Norm betrifft die Inspektion und die Instandhaltung von nach EN 1337-1 bemessenen Lagern, die in Brückenkonstruktionen oder in Bauwerken, die ähnliche Lagersysteme erfordern, verwendet werden. Sie setzt das Vorhandensein von Richtlinien für die regelmäßige Inspektion des gesamten Bauwerks während seiner Lebensdauer voraus.
Sie darf auch für die Inspektion und die Instandhaltung von Lagern, die vor der Einführung dieser Europäischen Norm bemessen und/oder eingebaut wurden, verwendet werden.
Diese Europäische Norm gibt für jeden Lagertyp die zu kontrollierenden und zu protokollierenden Aspekte an. Sie nennt keine zulässigen Werte. Diesbezüglich ist auf die einschlägigen Teile dieser Europäischen Norm sowie auf die das Lager und das Tragwerk betreffenden Zeichnungen und Berechnungen zu verweisen.
ANMERKUNG 1 Die Notwendigkeit einer regelmäßigen Inspektion und Instandhaltung von Lagern ist insofern zu beachten, als ohne derartige Maßnahmen vorzeitiges Versagen auftreten kann.

La présente partie de cette norme européenne s'applique à la surveillance et à l'entretien des appareils d'appui conçus conformément à la partie 1 de la présente norme européenne, lorsqu'ils sont utilisés dans la construction de ponts ou de structures nécessitant des systèmes d'appareils d'appui similaires.
