Safety of machinery - Safety requirements for machinery and equipment for continuous casting of steel
This European Standard applies for plant (containing machinery and equipment) used in the process of continuous casting of liquid steel (hereafter referred to as continuous casting machine, CCM) as defined in 3.1 and illustrated in Annex B.
This European Standard deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to machinery and equipment for the continuous casting of steel, when they are used as intended and under conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer (see Clause 4).
This European Standard specifies the safety requirements to be met during design, assembly, transport, commissioning, operation, maintenance (as described in Clause 5) and decommissioning of the equipment.
This European Standard assumes that the machinery and equipment of the plant is operated and maintained by adequately trained and competent personnel (see 7.4). Manual intervention for setting, adjustment and maintenance is accepted as part of the intended use of the plant.
This European Standard assumes that the machinery is used with adequate workplace lighting conforming to EN 12464-1.
NOTE Local regulations regarding lighting should be considered and could differ from requirements of EN 12464-1.
This European Standard applies to:
CCM for the transformation of molten liquid steel into solid products in sections (e.g. square, rectangular, beam blank, circular)
from the point where overhead cranes or other transport systems deposit ladles (e.g. in a ladle turret or ladle car);
via casting process;
via cutting equipment;
to the run-out-area where the cut product is collected.
This European Standard does not cover safety requirements for:
auxiliary plants (e.g. water treatment, refractory handling);
ladles;
cranes;
winches and hoists;
conveyors or handling systems.
This European Standard is not applicable to CCM, manufactured before the date of publication of this standard by CEN.
Sicherheit von Maschinen - Sicherheitsanforderungen für Maschinen und Einrichtungen zum Stranggießen von Stahl
Diese Europäische Norm ist für Anlagen (Maschinen und Ausrüstungen umfassend) anwendbar, die zum
kontinuierlichen Gießen von Flüssigstahl verwendet werden (nachfolgend als Stranggießanlage, SG-Anlage,
bezeichnet), wie in 3.1 beschrieben und in Anhang B erklärt.
Diese Europäische Norm behandelt alle signifikanten Gefährdungen, Gefährdungssituationen und -ereignisse,
die für Maschinen und Ausrüstungen zum Stranggießen von Stahl relevant sind, wenn diese bestimmungsgemäß
verwendet werden, und für den nicht bestimmungsgemäßen Gebrauch unter Bedingungen, die
vernünftigerweise von dem Hersteller vorhersehbar sind (siehe Abschnitt 4).
Diese Europäische Norm spezifiziert die Sicherheitsanforderungen, die während Konstruktion, Bau, Transport,
Inbetriebnahme, Betrieb, Wartung (wie in Abschnitt 5 beschrieben) und Außerbetriebnahme der Ausrüstung
zu erfüllen sind.
Diese Europäische Norm geht davon aus, dass die Anlagen von entsprechend geschultem und fähigem
Personal bedient und gewartet werden (siehe 7.4). Manuelles Eingreifen zur Einstellung, Anpassung und
Wartung wird als Teil des Normalbetriebes der Ausrüstung akzeptiert.
Diese Europäische Norm geht davon aus, dass die Maschinen bei entsprechender Arbeitsplatzbeleuchtung
nach EN 12464-1 genutzt werden.
ANMERKUNG Örtliche Bestimmungen in Bezug auf die Beleuchtung sollten berücksichtigt werden und können von den
Anforderungen in EN 12464-1 abweichen.
Diese Europäische Norm gilt für:
SG-Anlagen für die Umwandlung von Flüssigstahl zum festen Produkt in verschiedenen Querschnitten (z. B.
quadratisch, rechteckig, Trägervorprofil, rund)
- vom Punkt, an dem Brückenkräne oder andere Transporteinrichtungen die Gießpfannen ablegen (z. B. in
einen Pfannendrehturm oder einen Pfannenwagen);
- über den Gießprozess;
- die Schneideinrichtungen;
- zum Ausfuhrbereich, wo das geschnittene Produkt aufgesammelt wird.
Diese Europäische Norm enthält keine Sicherheitsanforderungen für:

La présente Norme européenne s’applique aux installations (contenant des machines et équipements) utilisés dans
les procédés de coulée continue d’acier liquide (ci-après référée comme machine de coulée continue, CCM)
comme défini au 3.1 et illustré à l’Annexe B.
La présente Norme européenne traite de tous les des phénomènes, situations et évènements dangereux
pertinents pour les machines et équipements pour la coulée continue de l’acier, lorsqu’ils sont utilisés comme
prévu et dans des conditions de mauvaise utilisation raisonnablement prévisibles par le fabricant (voir Article 4).
La présente Norme européenne spécifie les exigences de sécurité à satisfaire pendant la conception,
l’assemblage, le transport, la mise en service, le fonctionnement, la maintenance (comme décrit à l’Article 5) et la
mise hors service des équipements.
La présente Norme européenne suppose que les machines et équipements de l’installation sont utilisées et
entretenues par un personnel convenablement formé et compétent (voir 7.4). Les interventions manuelles pour les
réglages, ajustements et maintenance font partie de l’utilisation normale de ces machines.
La présente Norme européenne suppose que les machines sont utilisées avec un éclairage adapté au poste de
travail conformément à l’EN 12464-1.
NOTE Il convient également de considérer les réglementations locales concernant l’éclairage qui peuvent être différentes
des exigences de l’EN 12464-1.
La présente norme s’applique aux :
Machines de coulée continue (CCM) pour la transformation de l’acier en fusion liquide en produits solides profilés

In addition the manufacturer shall identify through his own risk assessment (see EN 1050) which of the hazards listed in Table 1 are significant for equipment made to customer's specifications.
