EN 74-2 specifies:
- materials;
- design requirements;
- specified values for resistances and stiffnesses which a coupler has to achieve under test;
- test procedures and assessment;
for the following special couplers:
- screw or wedge half couplers, sleeve couplers with shear studs, right angle reduction couplers and swivel reduction couplers.
It gives recommendations for on going production control.
These couplers are for use principally in temporary works. Each coupler is able to be fixed to at least one side to one 48,3 mm diameter steel or aluminium tube. For the other side of reduction couplers, this standard specifies requirements for the diameter and wall thickness of tubes.
For testing, screw couplers are tightened with a torque of 50 Nm and wedge couplers are tightened with a 500 g hammer until the jarring blow.
Other special half couplers such as half couplers attached by riveting, used mainly for members of prefabricated scaffolds, are outside the scope of this document.
NOTE Information on design using special couplers is given in Annex B.

This document applies to transportable masonry and stone cutting-off machines stationary during work, principally used on job site building construction for cutting-off stones, other mineral construction materials and composite materials having at least one supporting surface. The power for the tool rotation is supplied by electrical or internal combustion prime motor. This document deals with all significant hazards pertinent to masonry and stone cutting-off machines for job site (see Clause 4), when they are used as intended and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer. This document specifies the appropriate technical measures to eliminate or reduce risks arising from the significant hazards.
These machines are designed for use with rotating diamond cutting-off wheels with a continuous rim and/or segmented rim according to prEN 13236:2017.
This document does not apply to:
- metal cutting-off machines;
- wood and timber sawing machines;
- machines with a feed or descent mechanism other than manual, or with a pedal;
- mobile machines on a trolley travelling on the ground;
- hand-held portable grinding and cutting-off machines;
- hand-held portable grinding and cutting-off machines mounted on a support to be used in a fixed position.
This document does not cover the operation of transportable masonry and stone cutting-off machines in potential explosive atmospheres.
This document covers electrical hazards making reference to relevant European Standards (see 4.3).
Those hazards that are relevant for all mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and other equipment of machinery and that are dealt with in standards for common use are not covered by this document. Reference to pertinent standards of this kind is made where such standards are applicable and so far necessary.
In this document, the masonry and stone cutting-off machines for job site construction are called: "cutting-off machines" or "machines", and cutting-off wheels are also called: "tools".

The Standard is to specify the safety requirements applicable to truck mixers. A truck mixer as defined by this standard is used for the transportation and mixing of concrete, mortars and mineral building materials. The safety requirements will cover the superstructure (mixer equipment) and its interface with the truck chassis but not cover the truck itself and the elements required for the basic transport function of the truck. Other machinery that can be combined with the truck mixer, such as concrete pumps, distributor masts and conveyor belts will not be covered by the document.

This part of EN 1009 to be used together with EN 1009-1, specifies the safety requirements and their verification for the design and construction of feeding machinery for the mechanical processing of minerals and similar solid materials. In addition, it specifies the type of information on safe working practices (including residual risks) to be provided by the manufacturer. When requirements of this part of EN 1009 are different from those which are stated in EN 1009-1, the requirements of this part of EN 1009 take precedence over the requirements of EN 1009-1 for machines that have been designed and built according to the provisions of this part of EN 1009. This part of EN 1009, together with EN 1009-1, deals with all the significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to feeding machinery when they are used as intended and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer (see Clause 4).
NOTE 1 EN 13309 specifies test methods and acceptance criteria for evaluating the electromagnetic compatibility of all kind of mobile construction machinery.
NOTE 2 Specific requirements related to road traffic regulations (e.g. lighting, dimensions, speed limit plate) are not taken into account in this standard. This part of EN 1009 is not applicable to feeding machinery which are manufactured before the date of publication of this document by CEN
