This amendment A2 modifies the European Standard EN 60335-2-97:2006; it was approved by CENELEC
on 2009-11-01. CENELEC members are bound to comply with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations
which stipulate the conditions for giving this amendment the status of a national standard without any
alteration.
Up-to-date lists and bibliographical references concerning such national standards may be obtained on
application to the Central Secretariat or to any CENELEC member.

This amendment exists in three official versions (English, French, German). A version in any other language
made by translation under the responsibility of a CENELEC member into its own language and notified to the
Central Secretariat has the same status as the official versions.

CENELEC members are the national electrotechnical committees of Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia,
Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland,

Foreword
The text of document 61/3694/FDIS, future amendment 2 to IEC 60335-2-97:2002, prepared by
IEC Technical Committee 61, Safety of household and similar electrical appliances, was submitted to the
IEC-CENELEC parallel vote.
The text of IEC 60335-2-97:2002/A2:2008 together with common modifications prepared by CLC/TC 61,
taking into consideration the existing common modifications in EN 60335-2-97:2006, was approved by
CENELEC as amendment A2 to EN 60335-2-97:2006 on 2009-11-01.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of
patent rights. CEN and CENELEC shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent
rights.
The following dates are applicable:
- latest date by which the amendment has to be
implemented at national level by publication of
an identical national standard or by endorsement (dop) 2010-08-01
- date on which national standards conflicting
with the amendment have to be withdrawn (dow) 2012-11-01
This amendment supplements or modifies the corresponding clauses of EN 60335-2-97:2006.
As a consequence of endorsing amendment 2:2008 to IEC 60335-2-97:2002, the addition of 20.Z101 and
20.Z102 in EN 60335-2-97:2006 is replaced by the IEC text of 20.105 and therefore withdrawn.
There are no special national conditions causing a deviation from this amendment.

The text of amendment 2:2008 to the International Standard IEC 60335-2-97:2002 was approved by
CENELEC as an amendment to the European Standard with common modifications as given below.
COMMON MODIFICATIONS
p 20.104  The replacement and addition of 20.104.3 are not taken into consideration (20.104 was deleted
by EN 60335-2-97:2006).
p Subclauses 20.Z101 and 20.Z102 of EN 60335-2-97:2006 are deleted because they are replaced by the
IEC text of 20.105.
p Bibliography  Add the following note to the standard mentioned:
