This standard specifies the general properties of and methods of test for coatings applied by hot dipping in zinc (containing not more than 2 % of other metals) on fabricated iron and steel articles. It does not apply to: a) sheet and wire that are continuously hot dip galvanized; b) tube and pipe that is hot dip galvanized in automatic plants; c) hot dip galvanized products for which specific standards exist and which may include additional requirements or requirements different from those of this European Standard.

Diese Norm legt die allgemeinen Anforderungen an und Prüfungen von Eigenschaften von Überzügen fest, die durch Feuerverzinken (Stückverzinken) auf gefertigte Eisen- und Stahlteile aufgebracht werden (anzuwenden für Zinkschmelzen die nicht mehr als 2 % andere Metalle enthalten). Diese Norm gilt nicht für: a) kontinuierlich feuerverzinktes Band und Draht; b) Rohre, die in automatischen Anlagen feuerverzinkt werden; c) feuerverzinkte Produkte, für welche separate Normen existieren. Diese können zusätzliche Anforderungen beinhalten, oder Anforderungen festlegen, die von dieser Norm abweichen.

La présente norme spécifie les propriétés générales et les méthodes d'essais relatives aux revêtements appliqués par immersion à chaud dans le zinc (ne contenant pas plus de 2 % d'autres métaux) sur des produits finis en fer et en acier. Elles ne s'appliquent pas: - aux tôles et aux fils galvanisés à chaud en continu; b) aux tubes et canalisations galvanisés à chaud dans des usines automatisées; c) aux produits galvanisés à chaud pour lesquels des normes spécifiques existent pouvant inclure des prescriptions supplémentaires ou différentes de celles contenues dans la présente norme européenne.
