This European Standard applies to the liquid penetrant testing of all castings (except copper-tin and/or copper-tin-lead alloy castings, where copper is the major constituent) produced in conventional sand moulds, by gravity and low-pressure die casting whatever their grade and the casting procedure used to produce them. It does not apply to investment and pressure die castings.

Diese Europäische Norm gilt für die Eindringprüfung an allen Gußstücken (ausgenommen Gußstücke aus Kupfer-Zinn- und/oder Kupfer-Zinn-Blei-Legierungen mit Kupfer als Hauptbestandteil), die in herkömmlichen Sandformen, nach dem Schwerkraftkokillengießverfahren und Niederdruckkokillengießverfahren hergestellt wurden, ungeachtet ihrer Sorte und des für ihre Herstellung angewendeten Gießverfahrens. Diese Norm gilt nicht für Fein- und Druckgußstücke.

La présente norme européenne s'applique au contrôle par ressuage de toutes les pièces moulées (à l'exception ds pièces moulées en alliages cuivre-étain et/ou cuivre-étain-plomb où le cuivre est l'élément prédominant) produites dans des moules classiques en sable et dans des moules permanents pour moulage gravité et basse pression, quelles que soient leur qualité et la méthode de moulage utilisée. Elle ne s'applique pas au moulage à la cire perdue ou sous-pression.
