Contents gauges for LPG tanks
This European Standard specifies requirements for contents gauges for commercial LPG service and which are directly connected to mobile or static pressure vessels above 0.5 litres water capacity excluding these used for automotive tanks. This European Standard is intended to set minimum requirements for contents gauges for specific use with commercial LPG.
Füllstandsanzeiger für Flüssiggasbehälter
Diese Europäische Norm legt Mindestanforderungen an Füllstandsanzeiger fest, die direkt mit ortsbeweglichen oder ortsfesten Druckbehältern mit einem Rauminhalt von über 0,5 l verbunden sind. Ausgenommen sind Füllstandsanzeiger für Autogastanks.
Überfüllsicherungen mit integrierten Füllstandsanzeigern sind ebenfalls in der Norm erfasst.

La présente norme européenne spécifie les prescriptions relatives aux jauges de niveau pour l'utilisation du GPL commercial, directement reliées aux récipients sous pression mobiles ou statiques d'une contenance en eau supérieure à 0,5 litres, à l'exception de ceux utilisés pour les réservoirs d'automobiles. La présente norme européenne a pour but d'établir les prescriptions minimales relatives aux jauges de niveau pour l'utilisation spécifique avec le GPL commercial.

Foreword
This document EN 13799:2002 has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 286 "LPG equipment and
accessories", the secretariat of which is held by NSAI.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or
by endorsement, at the latest by April 2003, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by
April 2003.
This document has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission and the European
Free Trade Association, and supports essential requirements of EU Directive(s).

In this European Standard the annexes A, B and C are normative.

1 Scope
This European Standard specifies minimum requirements for design and testing of contents gauges, which are
directly connected to transportable or static LPG tanks above 0,5 l water capacity excluding those used for
automotive containers.
Overfill protection devices that incorporate contents gauges are also included.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this European Standard, the following terms and definitions apply.

LPG
mixture of light hydrocarbons, gaseous under standard atmospheric conditions, which can be liquefied by increased
pressure or decreased temperature. The main components are propane, propene, butane and butene isomers
