ISO 4098 | IULTCS/IUC 6:2018 specifies a method of determination of water-soluble matter, water-soluble inorganic matter and water-soluble organic matter.
ISO 4098 | IULTCS/IUC 6:2018 is applicable to all leather types. The result obtained by this analysis depends on factors such as:
- the degree to which the leather is ground;
- the extraction temperature;
- the extraction period;
- the ratio of leather to water.
To obtain comparable results, it is consequently imperative that test conditions be accurately reproduced.
In all cases, any ammonium salts in the filtrate are included as part of the water-soluble matter and are then decomposed on ignition. Thus they contribute towards the result for water-soluble organic substances. The concentration of the ammonium salts can be determined in the filtrate separately if required.

Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung wasserlöslicher Substanzen, wasserlöslicher anorganischer Substanzen und wasserlöslicher organischer Substanzen fest.
Dieses Verfahren gilt für alle Lederarten. Das durch diese Untersuchung erhaltene Ergebnis hängt von Faktoren ab, wie zum Beispiel:
dem Grad, bis zu dem das Leder zerkleinert wird;
der Extraktionstemperatur;
der Extraktionsdauer;
dem Leder-Wasser-Verhältnis.
Zum Erhalt vergleichbarer Ergebnisse ist es folglich zwingend erforderlich, dass die Bedingungen stets genau gleich sind.
In jedem Fall werden in dem Filtrat vorhandene Ammoniumsalze als Teil der wasserlöslichen Substanz einbezogen und anschließend beim Glühen zersetzt. Auf diese Weise tragen sie zum Ergebnis der wasserlöslichen organischen Substanzen bei. Die Konzentration an Ammoniumsalzen kann, sofern gefordert, in dem Filtrat getrennt bestimmt werden.

ISO 4098 | IULTCS/IUC 6:2018 spécifie une méthode de dosage des matières solubles dans l'eau, des matières inorganiques solubles dans l'eau et des matières organiques solubles dans l'eau.
Cette méthode est applicable à tous les types de cuir. Le résultat obtenu lors de ce dosage dépend de facteurs tels que:
- le degré de broyage du cuir;
- la température d'extraction;
- la durée de l'extraction;
- la teneur en humidité du cuir.
Par conséquent, pour obtenir des résultats comparables, il est impératif d'utiliser des conditions d'essai exactement identiques.
Dans tous les cas, les sels d'ammonium éventuellement présents dans le filtrat sont pris en compte lors du dosage des matières solubles dans l'eau, ils sont ensuite décomposés lors de la combustion. Ils contribuent ainsi au résultat obtenu pour la teneur en matières organiques solubles dans l'eau. La concentration des sels d'ammonium dans le filtrat peut être déterminée séparément si nécessaire.

Ta dokument podaja metodo za določevanje v vodi topnih snovi, v vodi topnih anorganskih snovi in v vodi topnih organskih snovi.
Uporablja se za vse vrste usnja. Rezultat, pridobljen na podlagi te analize, je odvisen od naslednjih dejavnikov:
– stopnja, do katere je usnje zmleto;
– temperatura izločanja;
– čas izločanja;
– razmerje med usnjem in vodo.
Za pridobitev primerljivih rezultatov je zato zelo pomembno, da so preskusni pogoji natančno ponovljeni.
V vsakem primeru so amonijeve soli v filtratu vključene kot del v vodi topnih snovi, ki se nato razgradijo ob vžigu. Tako prispevajo k rezultatu v vodi topnih organskih snovi. Po potrebi je koncentracijo amonijevih soli mogoče določiti ločeno od filtrata.

Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies" in collaboration with Technical Committee
CEN/TC 289 “Leather” the secretariat of which is held by UNI.

This document was prepared by the Chemical Tests Commission of the International Union of Leather
Technologists and Chemists Societies (IUC Commission, IULTCS) in collaboration with the European
Committee for Standardization (CEN) Technical Committee CEN/TC 289, Leather, the secretariat of
which is held by UNI, in accordance with the Agreement on technical cooperation between ISO and CEN
(Vienna Agreement).
It is based on IUC 6, originally published in J. Soc. Leather Tech. Chem., 49, p. 13, 1965, and declared an
official method of the IULTCS in 1965.
IULTCS, originally formed in 1897, is a world-wide organization of professional leather societies to
further the advancement of leather science and technology. IULTCS has three commissions, which
are responsible for establishing international methods for the sampling and testing of leather. ISO
recognizes IULTCS as an international standardizing body for the preparation of test methods for
leather.
This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition (ISO 4098:2006), which has been technically
revised in 8.1 and 9.1 to allow a larger tolerance in the temperature of extraction.

1 Scope

Vorwort
ISO (die Internationale Organisation für Normung) ist eine weltweite Vereinigung von Nationalen
Normungsorganisationen (ISO-Mitgliedsorganisationen). Die Erstellung von Internationalen Normen wird
normalerweise von ISO Technischen Komitees durchgeführt. Jede Mitgliedsorganisation, die Interesse an
einem Thema hat, für welches ein Technisches Komitee gegründet wurde, hat das Recht, in diesem Komitee
vertreten zu sein. Internationale Organisationen, staatlich und nicht-staatlich, in Liaison mit ISO, nehmen
ebenfalls an der Arbeit teil. ISO arbeitet eng mit der Internationalen Elektrotechnischen Kommission (IEC)
bei allen elektrotechnischen Themen zusammen.
Internationale Normen werden in Übereinstimmung mit den Gestaltungsregeln der ISO/IEC-Direktiven, Teil
2 erarbeitet.
Die Hauptaufgabe der Technischen Komitees besteht in dem Erarbeiten von Internationalen Normen. Die
von den Technischen Komitees angenommenen Norm-Entwürfe werden den Mitgliedsorganisationen zur
Umfrage zur Verfügung gestellt. Für eine Veröffentlichung als Internationale Norm wird eine Zustimmung
von mindestens 75 % der Mitgliedsländer, die abgestimmt haben, benötigt.
Es wird auf die Möglichkeit hingewiesen, dass einige Elemente dieses Dokuments Patentrechte berühren

ISO 4098 wurde vom Europäischen Komitee für Normung (CEN), Technisches Komitee CEN/TC 289, Leder,
in Zusammenarbeit mit der Komission für chemische Prüfungen der „International Union of Leather
Technologists and Chemists Societies“ (IUC Commission, IULTCS) gemäß der Vereinbarung über technische
Kooperation zwischen ISO und CEN (Wiener Vereinbarung) erarbeitet. Sie basiert auf IUC 6, ursprünglich
