General requirements for assessment and accreditation of certification/registration bodies (ISO/IEC Guide 61:1996)
This document sets out guidelines for a body to follow if it is to be recognized at a national or international level as competent and reliable, in assessing and subsequently accrediting certification bodies or registration bodies. Conformance to the requirements of this document will promote equivalence of national systems and facilitate agreements on mutual recognition of accreditations between such bodies.

Diese Norm stellt Leitlinien auf, die Stellen beachten müssen, um auf nationaler oder internationaler Ebene als kompetent und zuverlässig für die Bewertung und Akkreditierung von Zertifizierungsstellen anerkannt zu werden. Konformität mit den Forderungen dieser Norm fördert die Gleichwertigkeit nationaler Systeme und erleichtert den Abschluß von Verträgern über die gegenseitige Anerkennung von Akkreditierungen zwischen solchen Stellen.

La conformité aux exigences du présent document favorisera l'équivalence des sytèmes nationaux et facilitera la conclusion d'accords de reconnaissance mutuelle en matière d'accréditation entre ces organismes.
