This European Standard specifies the safety, constructional and performance requirements for valve proving systems, hereafter referred to as VPS, for gas burners and gas appliances. It applies to all types of VPS which are used for the automatic detection of leakage in a gas burner section having at least 2 valves designed to EN 161 and which give a signal if the leakage of one of the valves exceeds the dectection limit. It applies to VPS with declared maximum working pressure up to and including 4 bar, for use in systems using fuel gases of the 1st, 2nd or 3rd families.

Diese Europäische Norm legt sicherheitstechnische und Auslegungsanforderungen an Ventilüberwachungssysteme für Gasbrenner und Gasgeräte, im folgenden VPS genannt, fest. Die Norm gilt für alle Arten von VPS, die für die automatische Überwachung der Leckage in einem Gasbrennerabschnitt mit mindestens 2 Absperrventilen nach EN 161 eingesetzt werden und die ein Signal abgeben, wenn die Leckage eines Ventils die Empfindlichkeitsgrenze überschreitet. Diese Norm gilt nicht für VPS zum Einsatz in explosionsgefährdeten Räumen.

La présente norme européenne précise les spécifications pour la sécurité, la construction et le fonctionnement des systèmes de contrôle d'étanchéité pour robinets automatiques de sectionnement, dénommés ci-après SCE, pour brûleurs et appareils à gaz. Elle s'applique aux SCE qui sont utilisés pour une détection automatique de fuite sur une partie de la ligne gaz d'un brûleur ayant au moins deux robinets visés l'EN 161, et qui donnent un signal si l'un des deux ro binets présente un débit de fuite supérieur au niveau de détection du SCE.
