This Standard describes methods and acceptance criteria for verifying the performance of ultrasonic equipment (i.e. instrument and probe combined as defined in prEN 12668-1:1999 and prEN 12668-2:1998) by the use of appropriate standard calibration blocks. These methods are not intended to prove the suitability of the equipment for particular applications. The methods described are suitable for the use by operators working under site or shop floor conditions.

Prüfgerät und Prüfkopf nach prEN 12668-1:1996 und prEN 12668-2:1998 zusammengeschaltet) mit Hilfe geeigneter, genormter Kalibrierkörper nachgewiesen werden. Diese Verfahren sind nicht dazu gedacht, die Eignung der Prüfausrüstung für bestimmte Anwendungen nachzuwweisen. Die hier beschriebenen Verfahren können vom Prüfer selber unter den Bedingungen des Prüfortes durchgeführt werden.

La présente norme décrit les méthodes et les critères d'acceptation permettant de vérifier la performance d'un appareillage ultrasonore (c'est-à-dire: l'appareil combiné au traducteur comme défini dans les parties 1 et 2 de la présente norme) à l'aide de blocs d'étalonnage normalisés appropriés. Ces méthodes ne visent pas à établir l'aptitude à l'emploi de l'appareillage pour les applications particulières. Les méthodes décrites sont celles à utiliser par des opérateurs travaillant sur site ou en atelier.
