Standardization of the whole process and circulation of bee products, including but not limited to the following: products standards, basic standards, beekeeping practices, quality standards, testing method standards and storage and transportation standards. Food safety standards are excluded (already covered in TC 34/SC 17).

ISO 12824:2016 specifies the production and sanitary requirements for royal jelly and establishes a series of organoleptic and chemical test methods to control royal jelly quality. It also specifies the requirements of transport, storage, packaging and marking for royal jelly. This International Standard applies to the royal jelly production (collecting, preliminary processing and packaging) and trade links. This International Standard is not applicable to royal jelly products in which other foods are mixed.

This standard applies to all honeys produced by honey bees (Apis ssp.) and covers all styles of honey presentations which are processed and ultimately intended for direct consumption. The honey which is packed for sale in bulk containers, which may be repacked into retail packs is included. This standard covers honey for industrial uses.
