IEC 63136:2019 applies to manually loaded under-counter one-tank and one-tank hood-type electrically heated dishwashing machines for washing plates, dishes, glassware, cutlery and similar articles. These machines are used in commercial kitchens, such as restaurants, canteens, hospitals and in businesses such as bakeries, butchers' shops, etc. This document does not apply to commercial dishwashers with transport systems (flight-type and rack conveyor dishwashers) and utensil washers. This document does not apply to undercounter water-change dishwashers. This document does not apply to appliances designed exclusively for industrial purposes. The object is to state and define the principal performance characteristics of electric dishwashers for commercial use and to describe the standard methods of measuring these characteristics. The characteristics are measured by washing plates. This document is concerned neither with safety nor with minimum performance requirements.

IEC 60704-2-3:2017 is intended to be used in conjunction with the third edition (2010) of IEC 60704-1, Household and similar electrical appliances - Test code for the determination of airborne acoustical noise - Part 1: General requirements. The relevant text of Part 1 as amended by this standard establishes the test code for dishwashers. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: a) it doesn’t contain the description of an appropriate test enclosure because the test enclosure has been incorporated in IEC 60704-1:2010, Annex B; b) the values of standard deviations of sound power levels determined according to this part are given in Clause 1; c) to prevent an appliance being programmed to recognize the test cycles, and reacting specifically to them, in this new edition an artificial soil is used in addition to the unsoiled load and the rinse aid container has to be filled. This artificial soil successive may build up a film on the load. Therefore, detergent also has to be used. An initial test has shown that no foam is to be expected. This publication is to be read in conjunction with IEC 60704-1:2010.

Applies to single-unit electric dishwashers for household and similar use, with or without automatic programme control, for cold and/or hot water supply, for detachable or permanent connection to water supply or sewage systems, intended for placing on the floor against a wall, for building-in or placing under a counter, a kitchen worktop or under a sink, for wall-mounting or on a counter. Limitations for the use of this test code are given in 1.1.1 of EN 60704-1.

New implementation dates

This standard is applicable to electric dishwashers for household use that are intended to be supplied with cold water and incorporate an electrical heating system. It is not applicable to dishwashers supplied with hot water or hot and cold water. It is applicable to dishwashers intended to be supplied by hot or cold water when supplied with cold water only.
