— verre sur verre ;
— verre sur châssis ;
Glavna področja uporabe so:
– steklo na steklo;
– steklo na ogrodje;
– steklo na porozno podlago.
Ne vključuje akvarijev, strukturnega spajanja/zasteklitve, notranjega in zunanjega tesnjenja za izdelovanje izoliranih zastekljenih enot, vodoravne zasteklitve (pod 7°), organskega stekla (npr. polikarbonat, PMMA itd.).

Overview
EN 15651-2:2017 is the CEN European standard that defines requirements and test methods for non-structural elastic sealants used for glazing in building construction. It applies to glazing joints inclined from 7° horizontal and covers typical applications such as glass-to-glass, glass-to-frame, and glass-to-porous substrates. The standard excludes structural bonding/glazing, aquariums, manufacturing seals for insulated glazing units, horizontal glazing below 7°, and organic glass (e.g., polycarbonate, PMMA).
Key topics and technical requirements
EN 15651-2:2017 specifies what manufacturers and laboratories must assess to classify glazing sealants. Major technical topics include:
- Product identification: brand/type, chemical family, one- or multi-component, primer information.
- Physical / chemical tests:
- Thermogravimetric analysis on uncured sealant (EN ISO 11358)
- Density determination using pycnometer (EN ISO 2811-1)
- Hardness (Shore) on cured material (EN ISO 868)
- Mechanical and durability tests:
- Elastic recovery (EN ISO 7389) and tensile properties (EN ISO 8339 / EN ISO 8340)
- Resistance to flow (EN ISO 7390) and compression (EN ISO 11432)
- Adhesion/cohesion at maintained and variable extension, after water immersion and artificial weathering (EN ISO 9047, EN ISO 10590, EN ISO 11431)
- Change in mass and volume (EN ISO 10563)
- Performance classes: defined classes such as 25LM, 25HM, 20LM, 20HM with specific requirements for elongation, secant modulus, recovery and resistance to flow.
- Special conditions: provisions for cold-climate performance (lower temperature behaviour) and requirements for reaction to fire testing/assessment (references EN 13501-1 and EN ISO 11925-2).
- Conformity & marking: links to Assessment and Verification of Constancy of Performance (AVCP) and labelling requirements (see EN 15651‑5).
Applications and users
Who uses EN 15651-2:2017 and why:
- Sealant manufacturers - to develop, test and label glazing sealant products for the EU market.
- Façade engineers, architects and specifiers - to select compliant, non-structural glazing sealants for glass joints.
- Contractors and façade installers - to verify product suitability (glass-to-glass, glass-to-frame, porous substrates).
- Test laboratories and certification bodies - to perform required test methods and support AVCP.
- Regulatory authorities and procurement teams - to ensure products meet EU Regulation requirements (Annex ZA references).
Practical benefits include clearer product specification, predictable performance in service (including cold climates), and documented conformity for safety and procurement.
