Further definitions of useful organisational terms can be found in EN ISO 9000 (seeBibliography).3.2Technical terms3.2.1coal handling and bulk storage plantequipment comprising unloaders, conveyors, silos, etc. which together form a system forunloading, transporting and storing coal3.2.2conveyor tunnelenclosed or partially enclosed housing for one or more belt conveyors3.2.3buffer silointermediate coal store, whose capacity complements the available coal quantity to feed theboilers when the coal reclaimers are on stand-by (night, week end)3.2.4continuous maximum operating conditionmaximum condition at which the plant may be operated for a period not exceeding thespecified design life. This is the operating condition under which the performance tests areusually conducted3.2.5transfer towerjunction between successive belt conveyors. Attention is drawn to European, national and/or local legislation which can place restrictionsin this area.4.5Control and instrumentationThe specification should define the general requirements for the control and instrumentationsystem, the level of operator intervention allowed or required, integration with other controlsystems, localised control loops, commonality and redundancy.The specification should define the degree of automatic operation of certain parts of thesystem such as the coal stacker/reclaimer.NOTE
Guidance on the procurement of control and instrumentation systems for power stations,including advice on interfaces can be found in EN 45510-8-1 (see Bibliography).4.6Electrical supplies and other servicesThe specification should define the electrical supplies available for the operation of theequipment, their voltages and frequencies, with their range of variation, phases availableand, where appropriate, the acceptable values of maximum load (kW) and short circuit levelat each voltage level and the harmonic content. Requirements for terminals and terminalboxes should be stated; these should be to a recognised European or international standard.The specification should define the type and capacity of other services for the operation ofthe equipment such as gas or auxiliary steam or superheated water for the wagon thawingsystem or water for the coal heap spraying system and fire fighting system.SIST EN 45510-4-5:2003
