This document provides complementary product category rules (c-PCR) for Type III environmental declarations for windows and pedestrian doorsets as defined in EN 14351-1 and EN 14351-2. Windows and pedestrian doorsets additionally providing fire resistance and/or smoke control characteristics according to EN 16034 are also covered by this document.
NOTE 1 Windows that incorporate shutters and/or shutter boxes and/or blinds are in scope of this
c-PCR. For any connected electrical devices (e.g. motors, sensors) - see 6.3.5.2.
NOTE 2 For wood and wood-based products for use in construction, see EN 16485.
NOTE 3 For building hardware, see EN 17610.
This document complements the core rules for the product category of construction products as defined in EN 15804:2012+A2:2019. This document is to be used in conjunction with EN 15804:2012+A2:2019, not replace it.
NOTE 4 The assessment of social and economic performances at product level is not covered by this document.
The core PCR:
- defines the parameters to be declared and the way in which they are collated and reported;
- describes which stages of a product’s life cycle are considered in the EPD and which processes are to be included in the life cycle stages;
- defines rules for the development of scenarios;
- includes the rules for calculating the Life Cycle Inventory and the Life Cycle Impact Assessment underlying the EPD, including the specification of the data quality to be applied;
- includes the rules for reporting the predetermined, environmental and health information that is not covered by Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for the product, construction process(es) and construction service(s), as relevant;
- defines the conditions under which construction products can be compared based on the information provided by EPD.
For the EPD of construction services the same rules and requirements apply as for the EPD of construction products.

This document covers hinged/pivoted and sliding doorsets with engaging fasteners (e.g. latches, deadbolts) for pedestrian use. It defines the test methods to determine the forces to open/close doors and to engage/release and lock/unlock the building hardware using a key or handle. It is only applicable to the manual operation of doorsets.
These doorsets can include:
— emergency or panic exit devices;
— door closing devices.
NOTE The use of some windows involves engaging fasteners (e.g. latches, deadbolts) and can be tested in accordance with this document. Throughout the text where “door leaf”/”door leaves” is written this can also be read as “casements”/”sashes”.

This document applies to the whole range of shutters, awnings and blinds defined in EN 12216, described as solar protection devices in this document.
It specifies the corresponding properties and classifications:
- relating to thermal comfort:
- the solar factor (total solar energy transmittance);
- the secondary heat transfer factor;
- the direct solar transmittance;
- relating to visual comfort:
- the darkening performance;
- the night privacy;
- the visual contact with the outside;
- the glare control;
- the daylight utilization;
- the rendering of colours.
NOTE For other purposes, more detailed methods using different parameters can be used.
Some of the characteristics (e.g. gtot) are not applicable when solar protection devices are not parallel to the glazing (e.g. folding-arm awnings).
This document is not applicable to the solar protection devices using fluorescent materials.

This document specifies requirements and test methods for sensitive protective equipment put separately on the market as safety components to be used with entrance equipment such as power operated industrial, commercial and garage doors, gates and barriers, power operated pedestrian doors and power operated pedestrian entrance control equipment.
NOTE Requirements for the safe function of the combination of protective device and industrial, commercial and garage doors and barriers are given in EN 12453.
This document deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to the power operation of doors, and gates and barriers when they are used as intended and under conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseeable as identified in Clause 4.
All lifetime phases of the sensitive protective equipment including transportation, assembly, dismantling, disabling and scrapping are considered by this document.
Whenever the term „door” is used in this document, it is deemed to cover the full scope of types and variances of doors, gates and barriers and entrance control equipment listed in the scope of EN 12453:2017+A1:2021, EN 16005:2012 and EN 17352:2022.
This document is not intended to be used for sensitive protective equipment using ultrasonic, radar, capacitive, inductive, and passive infrared and vision based technologies. For these types of equipment this document can be used as a guide to demonstrate that such a device is allowed.
This document is not applicable to sensitive protective equipment manufactured before the date of its publication.

This document specifies requirements regarding design and test methods for power operated pedestrian doorsets. Examples of how the doorset constructions may be operated include: electro-mechanically, electro-hydraulically, electro-magnetically or pneumatically.
This document covers safety in use of power operated pedestrian doorsets used for normal access as well as in emergency and escape routes and as fire resistance and/or smoke control doorsets.
The type of doorsets covered include power operated pedestrian sliding, swing and revolving doorsets, including balanced doorsets and folding doorsets with a horizontally moving door leaf.
This document deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to power operated doorsets when they are used as intended and under conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer.
All lifetime phases of the power operated pedestrian doorsets including transportation, assembly, dismantling, disabling and scrapping are considered by this document.
This document does not apply to:
- vertically moving doors;
- doors on lifts;
- doors on vehicles;
- power operated doors or gates mainly intended for vehicular traffic or access for goods;
- doors used in industrial processes;
- partition walls;
- doors outside the reach of people (such as crane gantry fences);
- turnstiles;
- platform doors;
- traffic barriers.
This document does not cover special functions of doorsets, such as security in banks, airports, etc. or fire and/or smoke compartmentation, where conformity of the specific function with requirements of the application is the preference.
This document does not deal with any specific requirements on noise emitted from power operated pedestrian doorsets as their noise emission is not considered to be a relevant hazard.
NOTE Noise emission of power operated pedestrian doorsets is not a significant hazard for the users of these products. It is a comfort aspect.
This document is not applicable to power operated pedestrian doorsets manufactured before the date of its publication.
This document does not cover operation in environments where there is a risk of explosion.

This document specifies the test method, safety requirements and classification when determining the effect on a complete window or pedestrian doorset impacted with a soft and heavy body. Any secondary moving sashes, casements, leaves, mullions, transoms, T-connectors or fixed lights which can be mounted internally to the main casements or sashes, are intended to also be similarly tested and evaluated for the classification for the complete product.
The test applies to all types of infill of whatever materials including glass. It is not intended to classify the strength of the glass when used as an infill. It is intended to assess the interactions between all components of a window with particular regard to safety in use. It is also applicable to assess the ability of a doorset to keep in place glazed parts.
NOTE 1 The test method is aimed for glazed pedestrian doorsets with injury risk, but can also be used for other types of pedestrian doorsets if requested by the client.
NOTE 2 The test has been devised to suit all window or pedestrian doorset types, configurations and materials.
NOTE 3 For the classification of glass see EN 12600.
