use on AC supplies up to 1 000 V at 50 Hz or 60 Hz and/or DC supplies with operating
frequencies deviating from the supply frequency, associated with fluorescent induction lamps
as specified in IEC 62532 and IEC 62639, for high-frequency operation.
For emergency lighting operation, particular requirements for controlgear operated from a
central supply are given in Annex J. Performance requirements appropriate to the safe
operation of emergency lighting are also contained in Annex J.
Requirements for emergency lighting controlgear operating from non-centralized power
supplies are given in IEC 61347-2-7.
NOTE Performance requirements detailed in Annex J are those considered to be safety related with respect to
reliable emergency operation.

IEC 61347-2-3:2011 specifies particular safety requirements for electronic control gear for use on a.c. and d.c. supplies up to 1 000 V at 50 Hz or 60 Hz with operating frequencies deviating from the supply frequency, associated with fluorescent lamps as specified in IEC 60081 and IEC 60901, and other fluorescent lamps for high-frequency operation. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 2000, its Amendment 1 (2004) and its Amendment 2 (2006), IEC 61347-2-4 published in 2000, IEC 61347-2-5 published in 2000 and IEC 61347-2-6 published in 2000. This second edition constitutes a technical revision. The significant revisions with respect to the first edition are:  - rectifying test conditions when dimming;  - construction requirements;   - measurement circuits and limits for HF leakage currents;  - modification of the structure to become a standard exclusively for a.c. and d.c. central supplied electronic control gear for general lighting and Annex J cover centrally- supplied emergency control gear.   This publication is to be read in conjunction with IEC 61347-1:2007. The contents of the corrigendum of September 2011 have been included in this copy.

Lamp controlgear - Part 1: General and safety requirements
EN 61347-1:2015

This part of IEC 61347 specifies general and safety requirements for lamp controlgear for use
on d.c. supplies up to 250 V and/or a.c. supplies up to 1 000 V at 50 Hz or 60 Hz.
This standard also covers lamp controlgear for lamps which are not yet standardized.
Tests dealt with in this standard are type tests. Requirements for testing individual lamp
controlgear during production are not included.
Requirements for semi-luminaires are given in IEC 60598-1:2014 (see definition 1.2.60).
Particular requirements for controlgears providing safety extra low voltage (from now on
SELV) are given in Annex L.
It can be expected that lamp control gear which comply with this standard will not compromise
safety between 90 % and 110 % of their rated supply voltage in independent use and when
operated in luminaires complying with the safety standard IEC 60598-1 and the relevant part
IEC 60598-2-xx and with lamps complying with the relevant lamp standards. Performance
requirements may require tighter limits.
