- ajout de la détection des données périmées (voir les services Lire Points de consigne de péremption des données, Ecrire Temporisateur de données périmées et Ecrire Points de consigne de péremption des données). Ces services normalisent les rapports de passerelles dans le cas où des données de processus ou des événements n'arriveraient pas à la passerelle en temps opportun. Par exemple, les applications hôtes recevront le code de réponse "Echec d'actualisation" en cas de péremption des données de processus dans la commande de réponse;
- ajout de commandes de passerelles;
- ajout d'un état de mise en quarantaine;
- extension des modes CCA pour une meilleure correspondance avec l'IEEE 802.15.4;
- ajout de clarifications sur la gestion des listes blanches et des listes noires;
- ajout de clarifications concernant le rattachement (par exemple, ne nécessite qu'un voisin);
- ajout de clarifications concernant l'utilisation des liaisons de rattachement, la gestion des tables et les défauts;
- corrections et actualisations. L'attention du lecteur est attirée sur le fait que l'Annexe M énumère tous les articles traitant des différences à caractère moins permanent inhérentes à certains pays, concernant le sujet de la présente norme.

Overview

EN 62591:2016 (identical to IEC 62591:2016) - Industrial communication networks - Wireless communication network and communication profiles - WirelessHART™ - specifies a complete wireless communication stack and communication profile for WirelessHART-based industrial networks. This second edition (2016) is a technical revision of the 2010 edition and covers physical, data-link, network and application layer services and protocols, management, security, gateway behavior and a communication profile (CP 9/2).

Key topics and technical requirements

  • Protocol layers: Physical layer service definition and protocol, data-link layer services/protocol (Type 20 elements), network and transport layer services and procedures, and application layer services/protocol.
  • Network management: Procedures for device join, neighbor/link management, routing, scheduling and table management.
  • Security: Specifications for security functions and secure message handling across layers.
  • Gateway and interoperability: Gateway procedures and commands to integrate WirelessHART networks with wired/other networks.
  • Performance and diagnostics: Enhanced performance statistics using key performance indicators (KPI) for monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Data integrity features: Introduction of “Stale Data” detection (read/write stale data timers and counters) to detect outdated process values.
  • Operational modes: Extended Clear Channel Assessment (CCA) modes harmonized with IEEE 802.15.4 practice; whitelist/blacklist management clarifications; a Quarantined State for misbehaving or untrusted devices.
  • Clarifications & corrections: Updated join behavior (e.g., requiring only a single neighbor), link usage and defaults, plus general corrections across the document.
  • Normative references: Related fieldbus and networking standards such as IEC 61158 parts, IEC 61784-1, and IEEE 802.15.4(e).

Note: Annex M lists country-specific, “in‑some‑country” clauses of varying permanence.
