Binders for paints and varnishes - Epoxy resins - General methods of test (ISO 7142:2023)
ISO 7142:2007 specifies general methods of test for epoxy resins for use in paints, varnishes and similar products. It is also applicable to those solutions made from epoxy resins that are intended for use as binders for paints and varnishes.
The test methods described are not intended for epoxy esters.

Die in diesem Dokument beschriebenen Prüfverfahren sind für Epoxidharzester nicht anwendbar.

L'ISO 7142:2007 spécifie des méthodes générales d'essai des résines époxydiques destinées à être utilisées dans les peintures, vernis et produits assimilés. Elle est également applicable aux solutions de résines époxydiques prévues pour être utilisées comme liants pour peintures et vernis.
Les méthodes d'essai décrites dans l'ISO 7142:2007 ne sont pas destinées aux esters époxydiques.

Standard ISO 7142:2007 določa splošne preskusne metode za uporabo epoksi smol v barvah, lakih in podobnih izdelkih. Velja tudi za raztopine iz epoksi smol, ki so predvidene za uporabo kot veziva za barve in lake.
Opisane preskusne metode niso namenjene epoksi-estrom.

This document (EN ISO 7142:2023) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 35 "Paints and
varnishes" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 139 “Paints and varnishes” the
secretariat of which is held by DIN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by August 2023, and conflicting national standards shall
be withdrawn at the latest by August 2023.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of
patent rights. CEN shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This document supersedes EN ISO 7142:2007.

Foreword
ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards
bodies (ISO member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out
through ISO technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical
committee has been established has the right to be represented on that committee. International

General methods of test
1 Scope
This document specifies general methods of test for epoxy resins for use in paints, varnishes and
similar products. It is also applicable to those solutions made from epoxy resins that are intended for
use as binders for paints and varnishes.
The test methods to be applied to an individual epoxy resin shall be the subject of agreement between
the interested parties.
The test methods described in this document are not intended for epoxy esters (see Note 1 to entry in
3.1).
