This amendment A11 modifies the European Standard EN IEC 62841-3-11:2026; it was approved by CENELEC on 2026-04-13. CENELEC
members are bound to comply with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations which stipulate the conditions for giving this amendment the
status of a national standard without any alteration.
Up-to-date lists and bibliographical references concerning such national standards may be obtained on application to the CEN-CENELEC
Management Centre or to any CENELEC member.
This amendment exists in three official versions (English, French, German). A version in any other language made by translation under the
responsibility of a CENELEC member into its own language and notified to the CEN-CENELEC Management Centre has the same status as
the official versions.

This document (EN IEC 62841-3-11:2026/A11:2026) has been prepared by CLC/TC 116 “Safety and

This document modifies by common modifications EN IEC 62841-3-11:2026, which consists of the text of
116/802/FDIS (future IEC 62841-3-11, Ed. 1) prepared by IEC/TC 116 “Safety of motor-operated electric tools”.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent
rights. CENELEC shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This series is divided into four parts.
Part 1: General requirements which are common to most hand-held electric motor operated tools (for the
purpose of this document referred to simply as tools) which could come within the scope of this document;
Part 2, 3 or 4: Requirements for particular types of tools which either supplement or modify the requirements
given in Part 1 to account for the particular hazards and characteristics of these specific tools.
The Part 3-11 is used in conjunction with EN 62841-1:2015 and all of its amendments and corrigenda (if any).
The Part 3-11 supplements or modifies the corresponding clauses in EN 62841-1:2015 and all of its
amendments and corrigenda (if any), so as to convert it into the European Standard: Particular requirements
for transportable combined mitre and bench saws.
Where a particular subclause of Part 1 is not mentioned in the Part 3-11, that subclause applies as far as
relevant. When this document states “addition”, “modification” or “replacement”, the relevant text in Part 1 is to
be adapted accordingly.
The following print types are used:

— notes: in smaller roman type.
The terms defined in Clause 3 are printed in bold typeface.
Subclauses, notes, tables and figures which are additional to those in Part 1 are numbered starting from 101.

This document follows the overall requirements of EN ISO 12100.
This document has been prepared under a standardization request given to CENELEC by the European
Commission. The Standing Committee of the EFTA States subsequently approves these requests for its
members.
For the relationship with EU Legislation, see informative Annex ZZ, which is an integral part of this document.
Compliance with the clauses of Part 1 together with Part 3-11 provides one means of conforming with the
essential health and safety requirements of the Directive concerned.

1 Modification to Clause 1, “Scope”
Add the following to the existing Clause 1:
“NOTE Z101  Combined mitre and bench saws other than transportable are covered by EN 1870-3:2014.
This document covers all significant hazards, hazardous situations or hazardous events relevant for machines
covered by this document.”
2 Modification to Clause 2, “Normative references”
Add the following normative reference:
EN 847-1:2017, Tools for woodworking - Safety requirements - Part 1: Milling tools, circular saw blades
3 Modification to Clause 8, “Marking and instructions”
Add the following new item to subclause 8.14.2 a):
“Z101)  Instruction to use only saw blades specified by the manufacturer, with a warning that the riving knife
shall not be thicker than the width of the groove cut by the saw blade and not thinner than the body of
the saw blade. Instruction that specified saw blades intended for wood and analogous materials shall
comply with EN 847-1:2017.”
4 Modifications to Clause 18, “Abnormal operation”

“The inner diameter of dust collection openings with the detachable parts or provisions for dust collection
removed shall not exceed 100 mm.
NOTE The requirements of ISO 13857:2019 on fixed guards and distance guards do not apply here, due to their negative
impact on the extraction of chips and dust.”
Replace the compliance statement with the following:
“Compliance is checked by measurement and by the following test.”
