Overview

ISO/TS 10303-1352:2006 is an application module in the ISO 10303 (STEP) family that specifies data structures for catalog data information and shape representation. It defines how catalog products are represented, including product definitions, configuration options, pricing, multilingual descriptions, approval status and the full range of product geometry types used for CAD/CAM/PLM exchange. As a STEP application module, it is intended for reuse in larger application protocols (for example ISO 10303-236 for furniture catalogs and interior design).

Key Topics

  • Catalog product data definition: standard data constructs to describe catalog items, identifiers and associated characteristics.
  • Product structure and configuration: support for variants, options and manufacturing configurations to model configurable products.
  • Classification and specification control: mechanisms to record product classification, specification links and associated control attributes.
  • Dimensions and geometric tolerance: representation of product physical dimensions and geometric tolerancing metadata.
  • Pricing and price lists: product identification-based price lists and characteristic-driven pricing models.
  • Multilanguage support and documentation: multilingual descriptions, document definitions and assignments for catalogs.
  • Approval status and effectivity: fields for product approval lifecycle and effectivity rules for data validation.
  • Geometry and shape representation: broad geometry support including advanced boundary representation (B-rep), faceted B-rep, manifold surfaces with topology, geometrically bounded surfaces, 2D/3D wireframes (with topology), and constructive solid geometry (CSG).
  • Geometric validation properties: properties for assessing quality of geometric conversions during data exchange and ensuring interoperability.
  • Surface conditions: metadata describing surface finish or condition.

Applications

ISO/TS 10303-1352:2006 is practical for:

  • CAD/CAM/PLM vendors implementing STEP-based product data exchange for catalogs.
  • Manufacturers and suppliers publishing configurable product catalogs with geometry for e-commerce, procurement or downstream manufacturing.
  • Catalog and furniture industries (used in conjunction with ISO 10303-236) for interior design product exchanges.
  • System integrators and data modelers building interoperable product catalogs, pricing engines, and configuration management tools.
  • Quality and conversion validation workflows that require geometric validation metrics.

Related Standards

  • ISO 10303 (STEP) - the parent series for product data representation and exchange.
  • ISO 10303-236 - application protocol for furniture catalog and interior design that reuses application modules including 1352.
  • Other STEP application modules (e.g., parts 1351, 1353–1355, 436) which complement catalog and geometry data models.

ISO 10303-236:2006(E) and Application modules

ISO 10303 (STEP) supports many different product information exchange and sharing scenarios which
contain common information requirements.
The STEP application modules contain reusable data models for key collections of product information within
ISO 10303, which can be combined to support information exchange for different business scenarios. By
reusing these models, users will save the cost of remodelling common information structures, and can be
assured of interoperable data exchange processes.
This CD-ROM contains
⎯ ISO 10303-236:2006 which specifies the use of the integrated resources necessary for the scope and
information requirements for furniture catalog and interior design;
⎯ 6 application modules in HTML format, forming part of the ISO 10303 (STEP) series of documents. Each
application module is published as a separate part: 436, 1351, 1352, 1353, 1354 and 1355.
The application modules will also be used in other STEP parts currently under development, and are available
for developers to use as core information models for product data.
