59 INTERNATIONAL ELECTROTECHNICAL COMMISSION
60 ____________
62 CALCULATION OF THE EFFECTIVE PARAMETERS
63 OF MAGNETIC PIECE PARTS
65 FOREWORD
66 1) The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a worldwide organization for standardization comprising
67 all national electrotechnical committees (IEC National Committees). The object of IEC is to promote
68 international co-operation on all questions concerning standardization in the electrical and electronic fields. To
69 this end and in addition to other activities, IEC publishes International Standards, Technical Specifications,
70 Technical Reports, Publicly Available Specifications (PAS) and Guides (hereafter referred to as “IEC
71 Publication(s)”). Their preparation is entrusted to technical committees; any IEC National Committee interested
72 in the subject dealt with may participate in this preparatory work. International, governmental and non-
73 governmental organizations liaising with the IEC also participate in this preparation. IEC collaborates closely
74 with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in accordance with conditions determined by
75 agreement between the two organizations.
76 2) The formal decisions or agreements of IEC on technical matters express, as nearly as possible, an international
77 consensus of opinion on the relevant subjects since each technical committee has representation from all
78 interested IEC National Committees.
79 3) IEC Publications have the form of recommendations for international use and are accepted by IEC National
80 Committees in that sense. While all reasonable efforts are made to ensure that the technical content of IEC
81 Publications is accurate, IEC cannot be held responsible for the way in which they are used or for any
82 misinterpretation by any end user.
83 4) In order to promote international uniformity, IEC National Committees undertake to apply IEC Publications
84 transparently to the maximum extent possible in their national and regional publications. Any divergence
85 between any IEC Publication and the corresponding national or regional publication shall be clearly indicated in
86 the latter.
87 5) IEC itself does not provide any attestation of conformity. Independent certification bodies provide conformity
88 assessment services and, in some areas, access to IEC marks of conformity. IEC is not responsible for any
89 services carried out by independent certification bodies.
90 6) All users should ensure that they have the latest edition of this publication.
91 7) No liability shall attach to IEC or its directors, employees, servants or agents including individual experts and
92 members of its technical committees and IEC National Committees for any personal injury, property damage or
93 other damage of any nature whatsoever, whether direct or indirect, or for costs (including legal fees) and
94 expenses arising out of the publication, use of, or reliance upon, this IEC Publication or any other IEC
95 Publications.
96 8) Attention is drawn to the Normative references cited in this publication. Use of the referenced publications is
97 indispensable for the correct application of this publication.
98 9) IEC draws attention to the possibility that the implementation of this document may involve the use of a patent.
99 IEC takes no position concerning the evidence, validity or applicability of any claimed patent rights in respect
100 thereof. As of the date of publication of this document, IEC had not received notice of a patent, which may be
101 required to implement this document. However, implementers are cautioned that this may not represent the
102 latest information, which may be obtained from the patent database available at https://patents.iec.ch and/or
103 www.iso.org/patents. IEC shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
104 International Standard IEC 60205 has been prepared by IEC technical committee 51:
105 Magnetic components, ferrite and magnetic powder materials.
106 This fifth edition cancels and replaces the fourth edition published in 2016. This edition
107 constitutes a technical revision.
108 This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous
109 edition:
110 a) addition, in 5.2.3, of the drawing and the formulae of pair of URS-cores of rectangular-
111 circular section;
51/1486/CDV 5 IEC CDV 60205 © IEC 2024

112 b) using, in 5.9, 5.10, 5.11 and 5.13, of the conventional calculation formula that includes " B1-D " is
113 limited for the x-x cores (x is EL, ER, PQ or E) and addition new formulae for x-PLT cores that
114 replaces " B -D " with "(B -D+B )/2";
1 1 2
115 c) addition, in 5.9, 5.10, 5.11 and 5.13, of formulae of l1 and l3 for x-PLT cores (x is EL, ER,
116 PQ or E) which is different from the l and l of x-x cores;
1 3
117 d) addition of formula A in each subclause from 5.2.1 to 5.14.
