Railway applications - Gauges - Part 1: General - Common rules for infrastructure and rolling stock
This European Standard is applicable to authorities involved in railway operation and may also be applied for light vehicles (e.g. trams, metros, etc. running on two rails) and their associated infrastructure, but not for systems such as rail-guided buses.
It allows rolling stock and infrastructures to be dimensioned and their compliance to be checked relative to applicable gauging rules.
For rolling stock and infrastructure, this standard is applicable to new designs, to modifications and to the checking of vehicles and infrastructures already in use.
This document EN 15273-1 covers:
the general principles;
the various elements and phenomena affecting the determination of gauges;
the various calculation methods applicable to the elements shared by the infrastructure and by the rolling stock;
the sharing rules for elements taken into account in calculations specific to the infrastructure and to the rolling stock;
a catalogue of European gauges.
This document does not cover:
conditions to be met to ensure safety of passengers on platforms and of persons required to walk along the tracks;
conditions to be met by the fixed equipment maintenance machines in active position;
the space to be cleared for the running track of rubber-tyred metros and other vehicles;
rules applicable to extraordinary transportation, however some formulae may be used;
rules applicable to the design of the overhead contact line system;
rules applicable to the design of the current collection system on a third rail;
simulation methods for the running of vehicles, however, it does not confirm the validity of existing simulations;

Bahnanwendungen - Begrenzungslinien - Teil 1: Allgemeines - Gemeinsame Vorschriften für Infrastruktur und Fahrzeuge
Diese Europäische Norm gilt für alle Stellen, die mit dem Eisenbahnbetrieb zu tun haben. Sie kann ebenfalls für andere Schienenbahnsysteme (z. B. Straßenbahnen, U-Bahnen usw.), nicht jedoch für spurgebundene Fahrzeuge und ähnliche Systeme angewendet werden.
Sie erlaubt die Dimensionierung der Fahrzeuge und der Infrastruktur und die Überprüfung der Konformität mit den Vorschriften für die Begrenzungslinien.

Das vorliegende Dokument behandelt nicht:
die Bedingungen, die im Hinblick auf die Sicherheit der Reisenden auf dem Bahnsteig und von Personen auf dem Randweg zu berücksichtigen sind;
die Bedingungen, die von Instandhaltungsfahrzeugen für Infrastrukturanlagen in Arbeitsstellung einzu-halten sind;
den Raum, der als Fahrbahn für gummibereifte Bahnfahrzeuge (U Bahnen und andere) freizuhalten ist;
Sendungen mit Lademaßüberschreitung, auch wenn einige Gleichungen verwendet werden können;
die Gestaltung des Oberleitungssystems;
die Gestaltung von Stromschienensystemen;
Methoden zur Simulation von Schienenfahrzeugen in fahrendem Zustand; ebenso wenig dient sie dazu, die Gültigkeit bisheriger Simulationen zu bestätigen;
Vorschriften zur Überprüfung von Wagenladungen;
Regeln zur Codierung für den kombinierten Verkehr;
den Lichtraum bei sehr kleinen Gleisbogenradien (z. B.: R < 150 m bei der Begrenzungslinie G1).

La présente Norme européenne est applicable par les instances concernées par l’exploitation ferroviaire, elle peut également s’appliquer aux matériels légers (par exemple, tramway, métro, etc. circulant sur deux rails) et leur infrastructure associée, mais ne s’applique pas aux systèmes tels que des bus guidés par rail.
Elle permet de dimensionner et de vérifier la conformité du matériel roulant et de l’infrastructure par rapport aux règles du gabarit.
Tant pour le matériel roulant que pour l’infrastructure, la présente norme est applicable aux nouvelles constructions, aux transformations et au contrôle des véhicules et des infrastructures déjà en exploitation.
Le présent document EN 15273-1 traite :
- des principes généraux ;
- des différents éléments et phénomènes intervenant dans la détermination des gabarits ;
- des différentes méthodes de calcul, applicables aux éléments communs à l’infrastructure et au matériel roulant ;
- des conventions de répartition des éléments pris en compte dans les calculs propres à l’infrastructure et au matériel roulant ;
- d’un catalogue de gabarits européens.
Le présent document ne traite pas :
- des conditions à respecter pour la sécurité des voyageurs sur les quais ni des personnes appelées à circuler le long des voies ;
- des conditions à respecter par les engins de maintenance des installations fixes, en position de travail ;
- de l’espace à dégager pour la bande de roulement des métros et autres véhicules montés sur pneus ;
- des transports exceptionnels, mais certaines formules peuvent être utilisées ;
- des règles relatives à la conception du système caténaire ;
- des règles relatives à la conception du système de captage de courant sur un troisième rail ;
- des méthodes de simulation de la marche des véhicules et ne permet pas de confirmer la validité de simulations existantes ;
- des règles de vérification des chargements sur wagon ;
- des méthodes de codification pour le transport combiné ;
- du gabarit des infrastructures dans les très petits rayons de courbes (ex : R < 150 m pour le gabarit G1).
