This European standard specifies equipment and procedures for determining the effect of successive cycling from dry conditions at -20 °C to wet conditions at 20 °C on the mechanical properties and moisture content of the product. It is applicable to thermal insulating products. It is intended to simulate freeze-thaw effects on thermal insulating products which are frequently exposed to water and low temperature conditions, e.g. inverted roofs, unprotected ground insulation.

Diese Norm legt Prüfeinrichtungen und Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Auswirkungen von zyklischen aufeinanderfolgenden trockenen Umgebungsbedingungen bei - 20 °C und feuchten Umgebungsbedingungen bei + 20 °C auf die mechanischen Eigenschaften und den Feuchtegehalt eines Produkts fest. Sie gilt für Wärmedämmstoffe. Sie soll die Frost- Tau-Wechselauswirkungen auf Wärmedämmstoffe simulieren, die häufig Wasser und niedrigen Temperaturen ausgesetzt werden, wie z.B. im "Umkehrdach" oder bei der ungeschützen Wärmedämmung zum Erdreich.

Cette norme européenne spécifie l'équipement et les modes opératoires permettant de déterminer l'effet sur les propriétés mécaniques et la teneur en eau d'un produit soumis à des cycles successifs entre une ambiance sèche à - 20 °C et une ambiance humide à + 20 °C. Elle s'applique aux produits isolants thermiques. Cette méthode a pour but de simuler les effets de gel-dégel sur les produits isolants thermiques fréquemment exposés à l'eau et à basse température par exemple en toiture inversée ou en isolation de sol au contact de la terre non protégée.
