This standard specifies the requirements and test methods concerning, in particular, the construction, safety, fitness for purpose, and rational use of energy, as well as the classification and marking of gas-fired central heating boilers that are fitted with atmospheric burners, fan assisted atmospheric burners or premixed burners, and that are hereafter referred to as "boilers".

Diese Europäische Norm legt die Anforderungen und wirtschaftlichen Prüfungen insbesondere für den Bau, die Sicherheit, die Funktion und den Energieeinsatz sowie die Einteilung und die Kennzeichnung von Heizkesseln fest, die mit atmosphärischen Brennern mit und ohne Ventilator oder mit Vormischbrennern ausgerüstet sind und mit gasförmigen Brennstoffen betrieben werden (nachfolgend kurz "Kessel" genannt).
