This European Standard specifies two methods for the determination of the tensile properties of plastic and rubber sheets for roof waterproofing: Method A based on EN/ISO 1421, is the preferred method which should be used for all materials. If method A is not suited to the material, i.e. the material does not rupture, method B based on ISO 37 can then be used to determine tensile properties.

Diese Europäische Norm legt zwei Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Zugeigenschaften von Kunststoff- und Elastomerbahnen zur Dachabdichtung fest. Verfahren A basiert auf ISO 1421 und sollte vorzugsweise auf Bahnen aus allen Werkstoffen angewendet werden. Falls es jedoch ungeeignet ist, z.B. für einen Werkstoff, der nicht reißt, können die Zugeigenschaften nach Verfahren B, das auf ISO 37 zurückgreift, bestimmt werden. Diese Europäische Norm darf auch auf Abdichtungen angewendet werden.

Cette Norme Européenne décrit deux méthodes pour la détermination des propriétés en traction des feuilles d'étanchéité de toiture plastiques et élastomères: La méthode A, basée sur EN/ISO 1421, est la méthode préférée, à utiliser pour tous les matériaux.
