Diese Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Messung des elektrostatischen Feldes fest, welches von einem laufenden leichten Fördergurt wie in EN 873 definiert, erzeugt wird. Dieses dynamische Prüfung wird benötigt, weil das antistatische Verhalten von leichten Fördergurten nicht immer ausreichend durch die Messung der elektrischen Widerstände entsprechend prEN 1637 beschrieben werden kann.
