This standard specifies general performance requirements for procedures for determining the concentration of chemical agents in workplace air. Such requirements apply to all measuring procedures, irrespective of the chemical nature or physical form (gas, vapour, suspended matter) of the agent, and irrespective of the sampling method or analytical method used. This standard applies to all stages of a measuring procedure, including transportation and storage of the sample where appropriate.

Diese Norm legt allgemeine Leistungsanforderungen an Messverfahren zur Bestimmung der Konzentration chemischer Stoffe in der Luft am Arbeitsplatz fest. Solche Anforderungen gelten für alle derartigen Messverfahren unabhängig vom chemischen oder physikalischen Zustand des Arbeitsstoffes (Gas, Dampf, Schwebstoff) und unabhängig von der Art der Probenahme oder vom eingesetzten Analysenverfahren. Diese Norm gilt für alle Stufen eines Messverfahrens einschliesslich Transport und Lagerung der Probe, sofern zutreffend.

La présente norme stipule les prescriptions générales de performance pour les procédures servant à déterminer la concentration des agents chimiques dans l'air du lieu de travail. Ces prescriptions sont applicables à toutes les techniques de mesurage, quels que soient la nature chimique ou l'état physique (gaz, vapeur, matière en suspension) de l'agent ou la méthode d'échantillonnage ou analytique employée. La présente norme s'applique à toutes les étapes de la procédure de mesurage, y compris le transport et le stockage de l'échantillon si cela convient.
