Oilseed meals - Determination of oil content - Part 2: Rapid extraction method (ISO 734-2:2008, corrected version 2009-06-01)

ISO 734-2:2008 specifies an extraction method which may be used to assess the efficiency of a de-oiling process by comparing the oil content of the oilseed with the residual oil content of the corresponding extraction meals, pellets and expeller cakes.
It is not applicable to disputed cases, for which ISO 734-1 is applicable.
It is applicable to oilseed meals obtained from oilseeds by expelling or by extraction with a solvent, as well as to the pellets made from the residues.

Dieser Teil von ISO 734 legt ein Extraktionsverfahren fest, das zur Beurteilung der Wirksamkeit von Ölgewinnungsverfahren durch Vergleich des Ölgehaltes der Ölsamen mit dem Restölgehalt in den jeweiligen Extraktionsschroten, Pellets und Ölkuchen verwendet werden darf.
Das Verfahren ist nicht anwendbar auf strittige Fälle, für die ISO 734 1 anwendbar ist.
Das Verfahren ist anwendbar auf Ölsamenschrote, die durch Pressen oder durch Extraktion mit einem Lösemittel aus Ölsamen gewonnen wurden, sowie auf die aus den Rückständen hergestellten Pellets.

L'ISO 734-2:2008 spécifie une méthode par extraction permettant d'estimer le niveau d'efficacité du processus de délipidation par comparaison entre la teneur en huile d'un tourteau de graines oléagineuses et la teneur en huile résiduelle des farines, granulés et tourteaux en plaque correspondants.
Elle ne s'applique pas en cas de litige, auquel cas c'est l'ISO 734‑1 qui s'applique.
La présente partie de l'ISO 734 s'applique aux tourteaux de graines oléagineuses obtenus par pression ou par extraction des graines oléagineuses à l'aide d'un solvant, ainsi qu'aux granulés élaborés à partir de ces tourteaux.

Ta del ISO 734 določa metodo ekstrakcije, ki se lahko uporablja za ocenjevanje učinkovitosti postopka odstranjevanja olja z primerjavo vsebnosti olja oljnic z ostankom olja ustreznih ekstrahiranim obrokov, peletov in pogač.  Ne velja za sporne primere, za katere velja ISO 734-1. Velja za obroke iz oljnic, pridobljenih iz oljnic z izločanjem ali ekstrakcijo s topilom, in za pelete, izdelane iz ostankov.

The text of ISO 734-2:2008, corrected version 2009-06-01 has been prepared by Technical Committee
ISO/TC 34 “Food products” of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and has been taken
over as EN ISO 734-2:2010 by Technical Committee CEN/TC 307 “Oilseeds, vegetable and animal fats and
oils and their by-products - Methods of sampling and analysis” the secretariat of which is held by AFNOR.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical
text or by endorsement, at the latest by October 2010, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at
the latest by October 2010.

Foreword
ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies
(ISO member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO

ISO 734 consists of the following parts, under the general title Oilseed meals — Determination of oil content:
⎯ Part 1: Extraction method with hexane (or light petroleum)
⎯ Part 2: Rapid extraction method
This corrected version of ISO 734-2:2008 incorporates the following corrections:
⎯ on p. 2, “and materials” has been deleted from the Clause 6 title;
⎯ on p. 3, a revised Figure 2 now indicates tolerances to the dimensions.

1 Scope
This part of ISO 734 specifies an extraction method which may be used to assess the efficiency of a de-oiling

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
oil content
sum of the mass fractions of the substances extracted under the operating conditions specified in this part of
ISO 734 on the basis of the product as received
NOTE 1 The mass fraction is expressed as a percentage.
NOTE 2 On request, the oil content may be expressed relative to dry matter.
4 Principle
The test portion is ground in a micro-ball mill in the presence of a solvent and subsequently extracted with the
same solvent in a suitable apparatus. The solvent is removed from the extract by distillation, then the residue
is weighed after drying.
