M/BC/CEN/91/4 - CPD: Thermal insulation
CPD: Thermal insulation
General Information
This European Standard specifies laboratory methods for testing externally and internally mounted air transfer devices
operating under pressure differences.
It applies to devices located between two spaces (between one room and outside, or between two rooms) of the following
types:
-devices with fixed opening(s);
-devices with manually adjustable opening(s);
-devices with pressure difference controlled opening(s);
-window openings specifically designed to act as an air transfer device.
It describes tests intended to characterise the following:
-flow rate/pressure;
-non-reverse flow ability;
-air tightness when closed' (for closeable externally mounted air transfer device);
-geometrical free area;
-air diffusion in the occupied zone;
-sound insulation;
-water tightness.
This standard does not apply to evaluation of:
-air filtration;
-condensation risk;
-noise production.

This International Standard defines physical quantities used in the field thermal performance of
buildings and building elements, and gives the corresponding Symbols and units.
NOTE Because the scope of this International Standard is restricted to thermal performance and energy use
in the built environment, some of the definitions given in clause 2 differ from those given ISO 80000-5 Quantities
and units - Part 5: Thermodynamics (ISO 80000-5:2007).

ISO 7345:2018 defines physical quantities used in the thermal performance of buildings and building elements, and gives the corresponding symbols and units.
NOTE Because the scope of this document is restricted to thermal performance and energy use in the built environment, some of the definitions it contains differ from those given ISO 80000-5.

This Standard establishes the principles and criteria to be complied with for the determination of the laboratory steady-state heat transfer properties of masonry walls in a hot box by means of a heat flow meter mounted on one face of the masonry wall to be tested (i.e. the test specimen). It describes the apparatus, measurement technique and necessary data reporting. It does not, however, specify a particular apparatus design since requirements vary particularly in terms of size, and also to a lesser extent in terms of operating conditions.

Lays down the principles for the design of the apparatus and minimum requirement that shall be met for determination of the laboratory steady-state thermal transmission properties of building components and similar components for industrial use. Does not specify a particular design. Describes also the apparatus, measurement technique and necessary data reporting. Primarily intended for laboratory measurements of large, inhomogeneous specimens. Does not provide for measurements where there is mass transfer through the specimen during the test.
