ISO/TC 306 - Foundry machinery
Standardization for Foundry Machinery, including terminology, classification, specifications, test methods and safety requirements of machinery and equipment for, e.g.: permanent mold casting processes, e.g.: high pressure die casting machines, low pressure die casting machines, gravity die casting machines, centrifugal casting machines, non-permanent mold casting processes, e.g.: molding machines, core making machines, moulding material preparing machines, knockout machines, investing casting machines, cleaning and finishing processes, e.g.: abrasive blasting machines, grinding machines, cupolas and pouring devices and ladles both heated/unheated used in foundries.
General Information
This document applies to high pressure die casting machines: a) hot-chamber die casting machines (horizontal die closing system); b) horizontal cold-chamber die casting machines (horizontal die closing system). This document applies to high pressure die casting units, i.e. high pressure die casting machines (HPDCM), and their interfaces with the following ancillary equipment: a) die; b) melting, holding and dosing furnaces (see ISO 13577-1:2016); c) metal feeding equipment; d) inserting and removal devices; e) spraying appliances; f) heating and cooling devices for the die. This ancillary equipment itself is not covered. Additional risks arising from the material being cast are not covered. This document does not apply to either low pressure die casting machines or gravity die casting machines, or both. This document deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to pressure die casting machines when used as intended and under conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer (see Clause 4). This includes hazards coming from intentional interactions as well as unintentional but foreseeable interactions between movable parts of the machine and persons. This document provides the requirements to be met by the manufacturer to ensure the safety of persons and property during transport, commissioning, use, de-commissioning and maintenance periods, as well as in the event of foreseeable failures or malfunctions that can occur in the equipment.

This document specifies safety and environmental requirements for shot blasting machinery. Shot blasting machinery includes: — wheel blasting machinery; — air blasting machinery for dry and wet blasting; — combined wheel and air blasting machinery. NOTE Annex A illustrates examples of shot blasting machinery. This document is applicable to: — all significant hazards, hazardous situations and hazardous events relevant to shot blasting machinery, when used as intended and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer, including reasonably foreseeable misuse; — measures for minimization of environmental impact and energy usage of shot blasting machinery. Interfaces between shot blasting machinery and other equipment used in shot blasting but not in the scope of this document are: — mechanical and electrical interface to external workpiece transport system; — connector to electrical energy supply; — connector to fresh air supply ducting; — connector to exhaust air ducting; — connector to pressurized air supply; — connector to water supply; — connector to waste water system; — interface for safe exchange of control signals; — connector for fresh air supply for respiratory protection device (in blast rooms). NOTE Annex C gives an illustration of interfaces between shot blasting machinery and other equipment used in shot blasting but not in the scope of this document. The specific significant risks related to mobile and movable shot blasting machinery (e.g. shot blasting machines designed for operation at changing locations) are not dealt with in this document. This document does not apply to: — high pressure water jet machinery; — dry-ice blasting machinery. This document does not apply to shot blasting machines manufactured before the date of its publication as an ISO standard. NOTE The requirements specified in this document can serve as a guideline for a risk assessment of shot blasting machines manufactured before the date of its publication as an ISO standard.

This document deals with foreseeable significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to molding and coremaking machinery and associated equipment when used as intended and under conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer (see Clause 5). It provides the requirements to be met by the manufacturer to ensure the safety of persons and property during the life-cycle phases in accordance with ISO 12100:2010, 5.4, as well as in the event of foreseeable failures or malfunctions that can occur in the equipment. This document applies to the following equipment: a) machinery constructed to condition and/or reclaim foundry sands for mold and coremaking (including related moldable granular materials); b) molding machinery; c) coremaking machinery; d) knock-out equipment; e) other directly associated equipment. This document does not apply to: — ladles and pouring equipment; NOTE This equipment is covered within the European Union (EU) by EN 1247:2010. — wax and lost foam pattern production and wax removal equipment; — additive manufacturing equipment; — dust and/or gaseous emissions reduction equipment; — crane installations; — winches; — continuous conveyors or handling systems which can be an integral part of the equipment covered by this document; — sand and casting separation systems. This document does not explicitly deal with electrical hazards. These hazards are covered by IEC 60204-1: 2016
