General Information
Frequently Asked Questions
WG 13 is a Technical Committee within the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). It is named "TC 13/WG 13". This committee has published 170 standards.
WG 13 develops IEC standards in the area of Information technology. Currently, there are 170 published standards from this technical committee.
The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is the world's leading organization for the preparation and publication of international standards for electrical, electronic, and related technologies. Founded in 1906, the IEC provides a global platform for companies, industries, and governments to meet, discuss, and develop the international standards they require.
A Technical Committee (TC) in IEC is a group of experts responsible for developing international standards in a specific technical area. TCs are composed of national member body delegates and work through consensus to create standards that meet global industry needs. Each TC may have subcommittees (SCs) and working groups (WGs) for specialized topics.
IEC 62059-32-1:2011 specifies a method for testing the stability of metrological characteristics of electricity meters, by operating a test specimen at the upper limit of the specified operating range of temperature, voltage and current for an extended period.

IEC 62059-31-1:2008 provides one of several possible methods for estimating product life characteristics by accelerated reliability testing. In this standard, elevated, constant temperature and humidity is applied to achieve acceleration. The method takes into account the effect of voltage and current variation. It is applicable to all types of metering equipment for energy measurement, tariff and load control in the scope of IEC TC 13. The method given in this standard may be used for estimating (with given confidence limits) product life characteristics of such equipment prior to and during serial production. This method may also be used to compare different designs. The contents of the corrigendum of December 2008 have been included in this copy.
