General Information
IEC TR 62001-4:2021 is available as IEC TR 62001-4:2021 RLV which contains the International Standard and its Redline version, showing all changes of the technical content compared to the previous edition.IEC TR 62001:2021, which is a Technical Report, provides guidance on the basic data of AC side filters for high-voltage direct current (HVDC) systems and their components such as ratings, power losses, design issues and special applications, protection, seismic requirements, equipment design and test parameters.
This document covers AC side filtering for the frequency range of interest in terms of harmonic distortion and audible frequency disturbances. It excludes filters designed to be effective in the power line carrier (PLC) and radio interference spectra. It concerns the conventional AC filter technology and LCC (line-commutated converter) HVDC but much of this applies to any filter equipment for VSC (voltage sourced converter) HVDC. This edition includes the following significant technical change with respect to the previous edition:
- general updating of the document to reflect changes in practice;
- Annex A deleted as its content is covered by IEC 61803.

IEC TR 62001-1:2021 is available as IEC TR 62001-1:2021 RLV which contains the International Standard and its Redline version, showing all changes of the technical content compared to the previous edition.IEC TR 62001-1:2021 deals with the specification and design evaluation of AC side harmonic performance and AC side filters for HVDC schemes. It is intended to be primarily for the use of the utilities and consultants who are responsible for issuing the specifications for new HVDC projects and evaluating designs proposed by prospective suppliers. This document provides guidance on the specifications of AC filters for high-voltage direct current (HVDC) systems with line-commutated converters and filter performance calculation. The scope of this document covers AC side filtering for the frequency range of interest in terms of harmonic distortion and audible frequency disturbances. Where the term "HVDC converter" or "HVDC station" is referred to without qualification, in this document, it is understood to refer to LCC technology. It excludes filters designed to be effective in the power line carrier (PLC) and radio interference spectra. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
- general updating of the document to reflect changes in practice;
- 10.2.4 on fuseless capacitors has been transferred to IEC TR 62001-4;
- Clause 11 on future developments has been expanded;
- 10.3.3 and Annex F on voltage sourced converters have been deleted as their content is covered by IEC TR 62543.

IEC TR 62001-3:2016(E), which is a Technical Report, provides guidance on the harmonic interaction across converters, pre-existing harmonics, AC network impedance modelling and simulation of AC filter performance. The scope of this document covers AC side filtering for the frequency range of interest in terms of harmonic distortion and audible frequency disturbances. It excludes filters designed to be effective in the PLC and radio interference spectra. This document concerns the "conventional" AC filter technology and line-commutated high-voltage direct current (HVDC) converters. This first edition of IEC TR 62001-3, together with IEC TR 62001-1, IEC TR 62001-2 and IEC TR 62001-4, cancels and replaces IEC TR 62001 published in 2009. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to IEC TR 62001:
a) expanded and supplemented Clause 6;
b) new Clause 4;
c) new Clause 5;
d) new annexes on the location of worst case network impedance;
e) accuracy of network component modelling at harmonic frequencies;
f) further guidance for the measurement of harmonic voltage distortion;
g) project experience of pre-existing harmonic issues;
h) worked examples showing impact of pre-existing distortion;
i) comparison of calculation methods.

IEC TR 62001-2:2016(E), which is a Technical Report, provides guidance on the performance aspects and verification of performance of harmonic filters. This first edition of IEC TR 62001-2, together with IEC TR 62001-1, IEC TR 62001-3 and IEC TR 62001-4, cancels and replaces IEC TR 62001 published in 2009. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to IEC TR 62001:
a) expanded and supplemented Clause 19, and Annex B;
b) new Clause 3 on current-based interference criteria;
c) new annexes on induced noise calculation with Dubanton equations;
d) addition of a TIF requirement in a technical specification;
e) specification of IT limits dependent on network impedance and on the impact of AC network harmonic impedance; and
f) specification of voltage level on the filter design necessary to fulfil an IT criterion.
