This document specifies minimum requirements for powered filtering Respiratory Protective Devices (RPD) incorporating a loose fitting respiratory interface (RI). It does not cover devices designed for use in circumstances where there is or might be an oxygen deficiency.
Escape RPD and filters for use against CO are not covered by this document.
Laboratory and practical performance tests are included for the assessment of compliance with the requirements.

This document specifies particle filters for use as replaceable components in unassisted respiratory protective devices (RPD) with the exception of escape devices and filtering face pieces.
Laboratory tests are included for the assessment of compliance with the requirements.
Some filters complying with this document can also be suitable for use with other types of respiratory protective devices and/or escape devices. If so, they need to be tested and marked according to the appropriate European Standard.
This document does not cover requirements concerning respiratory hygiene. Requirements for decrease of the microbiological hazards caused by the growth of bacteria and viruses on the filtration material are not determined.

This document refers to gas filters and combined filters for use as replaceable components in unassisted respiratory protective devices (RPD) with the exception of escape devices.
Filters for use against CO are excluded from this document.
Laboratory tests are included for the assessment of compliance with the requirements.
Some filters complying with this document can also be suitable for use with assisted respiratory protective devices and/or escape devices. If so they need to be tested and marked in accordance with the appropriate European Standard.

This document specifies standard threads for respiratory protective devices and the description of test devices necessary for the assessment of some of the requirements.
This document does not apply to diving equipment and to positive pressure demand breathing apparatus.

This European Standard refers to filtering devices with a hood for personal escape from particulate matter, carbon monoxide and other toxic gases produced by fire. It specifies minimum requirements for this device which is for single use. It does not cover devices designed for use in circumstances where there is or might be an oxygen deficiency (oxygen less than 17 % by volume).
Two types of devices are specified; namely, those designed to be carried on the person and those designed to be stored.
This standard specifies devices primarily designed for adult users. Some devices may not be suitable for children.
Laboratory and practical performance tests are included for the assessment of compliance with the requirements.

This European Standard is applicable to centre threads for respiratory protective devices. This standard does not apply to diving equipment and to positive pressure demand breathing apparatus.

This European Standard is applicable to self-contained compressed air breathing apparatus designed as positive pressure breathing apparatus.  This European Standard specifies a thread connection, M 45 x 3, which may optionally be used for facepieces for positive pressure breathing apparatus.  This European Standard does not apply to negative pressure breathing apparatus, to closed-circuit breathing apparatus or to diving equipment.

This European Standard specifies minimum requirements for full face masks for respiratory protective devices.  Full face masks for diving apparatus are not included in the scope of this European Standard.  Laboratory and practical performance tests are included for the assessment of compliance with the requirements.

This European Standard applies to filters with breathing hoses (non-mask mounted filters) for use as components in unassisted respiratory protective devices to be worn by the wearer, with the exception of escape apparatus and filtering facepieces.  Laboratory tests and practical performance tests are included for the assessment of compliance with the requirements.
