Frequently Asked Questions
ECISS/TC 12 is a Technical Committee within the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). It is named "Structural steels and steels for pressure purposes, flat products - Dimensions and tolerances" and is responsible for: Standardization of tolerances on dimension, form and mass for hot-rolled flat products of non-alloy and alloy steels with a rolled width > or = 600 mm. This committee has published 2 standards.
ECISS/TC 12 develops CEN standards in the area of M01 - STEEL. The scope of work includes: Standardization of tolerances on dimension, form and mass for hot-rolled flat products of non-alloy and alloy steels with a rolled width > or = 600 mm. Currently, there are 2 published standards from this technical committee.
The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) is a public standards organization that brings together the national standardization bodies of 34 European countries. CEN provides a platform for developing European Standards (ENs) and other technical documents in relation to various products, materials, services, and processes, supporting the European Single Market.
A Technical Committee (TC) in CEN is a group of experts responsible for developing international standards in a specific technical area. TCs are composed of national member body delegates and work through consensus to create standards that meet global industry needs. Each TC may have subcommittees (SCs) and working groups (WGs) for specialized topics.
This European Standard applies to continuously hot-rolled uncoated flat products with a maximum width of 2200 mm of non-alloy and alloy steels including stainless steels in accordance with table 1. This European Standard also applies to hot-rolled strip for cold rolling. This European Standard does not apply to hot-rolled strip rolled in widths < 600 mm (see EN 10048).

This European Standard specifies requirements for tolerances for hot rolled non-alloy and alloy steel plates including stainless steels, with the following characteristics: a) nominal thickness >= 3mm <=250 mm; b) nominal width >= 600 mm ; c) specified minimum yield strength > 700 N/mm2. Tolerances for products of width < 600 mm cut or slit from plate should be agreed between manufacturer and purchaser at the time of enquiry and order.
