SIST EN 301 489-26 V2.3.2:2005 is the Slovenian adoption of ETSI EN 301 489-26 V2.3.2, a candidate harmonized European EMC standard for CDMA 1x spread spectrum radio equipment. It applies to base stations, repeaters and associated ancillary equipment, and it specifies how to test and judge electromagnetic compatibility for those products. Engineers, labs and buyers use it together with EN 301 489-1, the common part for radio equipment and services.
What does SIST EN 301 489-26 V2.3.2:2005 specify?
SIST EN 301 489-26 V2.3.2:2005 specifies the EMC test conditions, performance assessment and performance criteria for CDMA 1x spread spectrum base station equipment, repeaters and ancillary equipment. It gives the product-specific conditions that supplement EN 301 489-1, while leaving antenna-port and enclosure-port radio-spectrum specifications to the relevant product standards.
The document is organized into clauses 1 to 7, followed by informative annexes A to C.
| Annex | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Annex A | Examples of base station radio equipment within scope |
| Annex B | Bibliography |
| Annex C | EN title in the official languages |
What are the key requirements of SIST EN 301 489-26 V2.3.2:2005?
- Test environment and setup - Clause 4 requires testing in the normal environment defined in TIA-97-E-1, with the conditions recorded in the test report. For equipment with multiple base stations or repeaters, representative ports may be tested. This matters because the lab must document the exact configuration that was exercised.
- Wanted signal arrangement - Clauses 4.2 and 4.5 require a communication link with a suitable mobile station simulator or base station system test equipment, using the supported Radio Configuration (RC) and full data rate only. In practice, the EUT must be exercised in a realistic traffic state, not just powered on.
- Transmit and receive operating points - For immunity tests, the transmitter is driven at maximum rated transmit power. For receiver tests, the wanted RF signal is set no more than 40 dB above the reference sensitivity level for immunity, and no more than 15 dB above it for emission testing. This keeps the test stable without overdriving the receiver path.
- Repeaters - Clause 4.2.5 requires the wanted RF input signal to be coupled to one antenna port, or to both ports as specified, so that maximum rated RF output power per channel is reached. That lets the test verify repeater behavior at its declared operating point.
- Exclusion bands and narrowband responses - Clause 4.3 defines transmitter, receiver and repeater exclusion bands, and clause 4.4 explains how to distinguish narrowband responses from wideband EMC problems by retesting with frequency offsets. Narrowband responses are disregarded for immunity tests.
- Performance criteria - Clause 6 sets the pass criteria. Base stations use Frame Error Rate (FER) limits of 1.0% for normal operation, or 2.0% for PAMR base stations, with the link maintained and no loss of user control function or stored data. Repeaters are checked by RF gain, which shall stay within ±1 dB. Ancillary equipment is judged against the manufacturer’s declared performance level or permitted performance loss.
- Applicability tables - Clause 7 points back to EN 301 489-1 tables for emission and immunity port applicability, with the base-station communication-link setup shown in figure 1. This tells the test lab which ports and paths are in scope for each test.
What terms does SIST EN 301 489-26 V2.3.2:2005 define?
- CDMA-PAMR - A PAMR system based on TIA/EIA/IS-2000 spreading-rate-1 specifications.
- CDMA 1x Spread Spectrum - cdma2000 spread spectrum systems and their evolution with spreading rate 1.
- Forward CDMA channel - The channel from the base station to the mobile station.
- Reverse CDMA channel - The channel from the mobile station to the base station.
- Radio Configuration (RC) - The set of forward and reverse traffic channel formats defined by physical-layer parameters.
- FER - Frame Error Rate, the error measure used for base-station performance assessment.
- EUT - Equipment Under Test, the product being subjected to EMC testing.
Who uses SIST EN 301 489-26 V2.3.2:2005?
SIST EN 301 489-26 V2.3.2:2005 is used by radio-equipment manufacturers, EMC laboratories, conformity assessment bodies and network operators. It is also useful for quality managers and buyers who need to specify EMC testing for CDMA 1x base stations, repeaters and ancillary equipment used in IMT-2000 CDMA Multi-carrier and CDMA-PAMR applications.
What changed in SIST EN 301 489-26 V2.3.2:2005 from the previous edition?
This edition updates Part 26 to include PAMR applications and provides a general update. The history shows it follows earlier published versions of the same part.
