This draft amendment is submitted to CEN members for unique acceptance procedure. It has been drawn up by the Technical Committee
CEN/TC 151.
This draft amendment A1, if approved, will modify the European Standard EN 474-1:2006. If this draft becomes an amendment, CEN
members are bound to comply with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations which stipulate the conditions for inclusion of this amendment
into the relevant national standard without any alteration.
This draft amendment was established by CEN in three official versions (English, French, German). A version in any other language made
by translation under the responsibility of a CEN member into its own language and notified to the CEN Management Centre has the same
status as the official versions.

Foreword
This document (EN 474-1:2006/prA1:2008) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 151
“Construction equipment and building material machines”, the secretariat of which is held by DIN.
This document is currently submitted to the Unique Acceptance Procedure.
This document has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission and the
European Free Trade Association, and supports essential requirements of EU Directive(s).
For relationship with EU Directive(s), see informative Annexes ZA and ZB, which are integral parts of this
document.

1 Modification to the Foreword
Replace the fifth paragraph with the following:

2 Modification to the Scope
Replace in the seventh paragraph "This European Standard does not deal" with "Except for part 12 this
European Standard does not deal".
Add the following new paragraph as the third from the bottom:

Update the reference in the first paragraph to "EN ISO 3411:2007".
In the second paragraph replace "EN ISO 3411:1999, Figure 5" with "EN ISO 3411:2007, Figure 4."

7 Modification to 5.3.2.5, Space envelope height

11 Modification to 5.3.3.1, General
Delete the second paragraph.
12 Modification to 5.3.4, Falling-object protective structures (FOPS)
Replace the existing paragraph with the following:
"Earth-moving machinery above 15 kW shall be fitted with a falling-object protective structure (FOPS), when
they are intended for applications where there is a risk of falling objects.
NOTE The following machines are normally not used for applications with a risk of falling objects: scrapers, pipe-
layers, trenchers and landfill compactors.
If FOPS is fitted it shall comply with EN ISO 3449:2005. For machines not covered by EN ISO 3449:2005 the
corresponding protection shall be provided when they are intended for applications where there is a risk of
falling objects.
NOTE For excavators, see EN 474-5:2006 and EN 474-12:2006."

13 Modification to 5.4.1.3, Adjustment
Replace the first paragraph with the following:
"All adjustments to accommodate the operator's size shall comply with ISO 11112:1995, Table 1, except
vertical adjustment (ISO 11112:1995, Table 1, h ) where a minimum value of 60 mm shall be used. The
adjustment shall be possible without the use of any tool."

Add the following note:
"NOTE Comparative data for vibration can be found in e.g. ISO/TR 25398."

15 Modification to 5.4.2.1, Instructor's seat

and 5.3.4 (FOPS)."
