SIST EN 301 614-2:2000 is the Slovenian adoption of the ETSI standard for Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT) and Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) interworking for intermediate system configuration, Part 2. It defines the Profile Specific Test Specification (PSTS) for Portable radio Termination (PT) terminals that claim conformance to the DECT/ISDN interworking profile. In practice, it tells test laboratories and manufacturers how to check a PT against the profile using ISO/IEC conformance testing methods.
What does SIST EN 301 614-2:2000 specify?
SIST EN 301 614-2:2000 specifies conformance tests for DECT/ISDN Interworking Profile (IIP) Portable Part (PP) applications and DECT/ISDN terminal equipment conforming to ETS 300 822. The document focuses on voluntary testing and on the test cases needed to judge interoperability with an ISDN network.
The standard is organized into general clauses for scope, references, definitions and abbreviations, then protocol-specific test material for the DECT NWK, DLC, MAC and PHL layers, ISDN basic access protocols, and the DECT/ISDN IIP profile. It also includes proformas and the abstract test suites used to run the tests.
| Annex | What it covers |
|---|---|
| A | Profile IXIT proforma |
| B | Profile CTR proforma |
| C | System Conformance Test Report (SCTR) proforma |
| D | Profile IXIT Requirements List (XRL) proforma |
| E | Modifications of DECT Common Interface (CI) PCTR proforma |
| F | Abstract Test Suite (ATS) - NWK layer |
| G | Abstract Test Suite (ATS) - DLC layer |
| H | Abstract Test Suite (ATS) - MAC layer |
| J | Abstract Test Suite (ATS) - Interworking Unit (IWU) |
What are the key requirements of SIST EN 301 614-2:2000?
The main requirement of SIST EN 301 614-2:2000 is to provide the profile-specific test purposes, test cases and test suite structure needed to assess a PT implementation against the DECT/ISDN IIP. It is a conformance test specification, so its value is in stating what to verify and how to organize the verification.
DECT NWK layer
Clause 4 adds test purposes for Call Control entity and Link Control Entity behavior that are specific to the profile. In practice, this covers message segmentation, separate handling of B1 and B2 channel switching, release of the U-plane, rejection of malformed CC messages, and timer behavior such as P-<CC.05>. Clause 4 also maps the relevant ETS 300 497-7 test cases and adds new ones where the profile needs extra coverage.
DECT DLC layer
Clause 5 adds test purposes for C-plane class B procedures and U-plane LU7 and LU8 procedures. This matters because the PT must handle establishment, re-establishment, acknowledgement, release, retransmission and sequence numbering correctly, including the more data bit and the retransmission counters and timers used in class B and LU procedures.
DECT MAC layer
Clause 6 adds test purposes for advanced symmetric connections, C-plane switching, U-plane switching, connection handover and release of part of double slot. This is where the test focus moves to bearer setup and switching behavior, including retry limits such as N204 and N205 and timers such as T200, T201 and T217.
DECT PHL layer and ISDN basic access
Clause 7 states that the PHL requirements and test method of TBR 22 apply. Clause 8 states that all ISDN basic access protocol requirements and the test method of TBR 3 apply, and that the PT must first be conformant to the ISDN protocols before the rest of the profile is relevant.
Profile structure and report forms
Clause 9 structures the profile test suite into functional modules for Link Association Entity (LAE), Missing Resource Management (MRM) and Call control Specific Procedures (CSP), with CA, BV, BO and BI test groups. It also defines the naming rules, ATS conventions, and the mapping between test purposes and test cases. The annexes then provide the IXIT, CTR, SCTR and XRL forms used in real test campaigns.
What terms does SIST EN 301 614-2:2000 define?
- DECT/ISDN IIP - The interworking profile for DECT and ISDN intermediate system configuration that this test specification checks.
- PT - Portable radio Termination, the portable DECT side under test.
- IWU - Interworking Unit, the part that bridges DECT and ISDN behavior in the profile.
- ATS - Abstract Test Suite, the formal TTCN test suite used to execute conformance tests.
- IXIT - Implementation eXtra Information for Testing, the implementation details needed by the lab to run the tests.
- PICS - Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement, the claimed capabilities used to select applicable tests.
- SUT - System Under Test, the system or product being evaluated in the test campaign.
Who uses SIST EN 301 614-2:2000?
SIST EN 301 614-2:2000 is used by test laboratories, manufacturers, and conformance or approval engineers working on DECT/ISDN terminal equipment. It is also relevant for quality managers and buyers who need a structured way to check what was tested and how the results were reported.
It is especially useful when the DECT Fixed Part (FP) and Portable Part (PP) may come from different manufacturers, because the tests focus on interoperability at the profile level. Teams use it to prepare IXIT, PICS and SCS information, execute the ATS, and complete CTR or SCTR reports.

What does the SIST EN 301 614-2:2000 document contain?
The document contains the test suite structure, named test purposes, selected and additional test cases, and the conventions used to write the ATS. It also includes profile report forms for IXIT, CTR, SCTR and XRL use in test campaigns.
Its annexes provide the TTCN graphical and machine-processable forms for the NWK, DLC, MAC and IWU ATS, so the standard can be used directly in conformance testing. Clauses 4 to 9 also describe which test groups are relevant, which ones are added for the profile, and how the test case numbering is organized.
