Flexible sheets for waterproofing - Extrapolation rules for testing results on resistance to root penetration
Experience with testing in accordance with EN 13948 has shown that flexible sheets for waterproofing with different thicknesses, different colours, different formulations, different surface finishing, and different internal fabrics, amongst others, have passed the test successfully.
This document expresses the extrapolation rules of the results of root resistance testing in accordance with EN 13948 for roof waterproofing sheets manufactured in accordance with EN 13707:2004+A2:2009, and EN 13956:2012.
Experience with testing in accordance to EN 13948 has shown that the main critical points are represented by the joints. If joints are done in a proper way, it will avoid the penetration of roots during the test.

Die Erfahrung bei Prüfungen nach EN 13948 hat gezeigt, dass unter anderem Abdichtungsbahnen mit unterschiedlichen Dicken, unterschiedlichen Farben, unterschiedlichen Formulierungen, unterschiedlicher Oberflächenbeschaffenheit und unterschiedlichen Einlagen die Prüfung bestanden haben.
Dieses Dokument legt die Extrapolationsregeln für die Prüfung des Widerstands gegen Durchwurzelung nach EN 13948 für in Übereinstimmung mit EN 13707:2004+A2:2009 und EN 13956:2012 hergestellte Dachabdichtungsbahnen fest.
Die Erfahrung bei Prüfungen nach EN 13948 hat gezeigt, dass die Fügenähte die wichtigsten kritischen Punkte darstellen. Die korrekte Herstellung der Fügenähte verhindert die Penetration durch Wurzeln während der Prüfung.

L’expérience acquise lors des essais réalisés en conformité avec l’EN 13948 montre que les feuilles souples d’étanchéité de différentes épaisseurs, couleurs, formulations, finitions de surface, et comportant différentes armatures internes, entre autres, donnent des résultats satisfaisants.
Le présent document énonce les règles d’extrapolation des résultats d’essais de résistance à la pénétration des racines conformes à l’EN 13948, pour les feuilles d’étanchéité de toiture fabriquées conformément à l’EN 13707:2004+A2:2009 et à l’EN 13956:2012.
L’expérience acquise lors des essais réalisés en conformité avec l’EN 13948 montre que les principaux points critiques se trouvent au niveau des joints. La bonne exécution des joints évite toute pénétration des racines pendant l’essai.

Izkušnje s preskušanjem v skladu s standardom EN 13948 so pokazale, da so hidroizolacijski trakovi različnih debelin, barv, sestavov, površinskih obdelav in notranjih tkanin uspešno opravili preskus.
Ta dokument določa pravila za ekstrapolacijo rezultatov testiranja odpornosti proti preboju korenin v skladu s standardom EN 13948 za trakove za tesnjenje streh v skladu s standardoma 13707:2004+A2:2009 in EN 13956:2012.
Izkušnje s preskušanjem v skladu s standardom EN 13948 so pokazale, da so kritične točke spoji. Če so spoji izvedeni pravilno, preboja korenin med preskusom ni.

This Technical Specification (CEN/TS) was approved by CEN on 8 October 2023 for provisional application.
The period of validity of this CEN/TS is limited initially to three years. After two years the members of CEN will be requested to
submit their comments, particularly on the question whether the CEN/TS can be converted into a European Standard.
CEN members are required to announce the existence of this CEN/TS in the same way as for an EN and to make the CEN/TS
available promptly at national level in an appropriate form. It is permissible to keep conflicting national standards in force (in
parallel to the CEN/TS) until the final decision about the possible conversion of the CEN/TS into an EN is reached.
