ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide

1 Scope
This International Standard specifies the main characteristics of M14 · 1,25 spark-plugs with flat seating with
normal or long reach and their cylinder head housings, for use with spark-ignition engines.

3 Requirements
3.1 Terminals
The spark-plug terminal shall be either the solid post or the threaded type as specified in ISO 14508. A spark-plug
with threaded terminal on which a nut is applied shall respect the dimensions specified for spark-plugs with solid
post terminals (see figure 1).

3.2.1 Spark-plug reach
Spark-plug reach shall be in accordance with table 1.

3.2.2 Gasket
When the spark-plugs have been tightened with a torque of 30 N�m, on threads that are clean, smooth and dry, the
gaskets shall be 1,3 mm to 2 mm thick. If the gasket thicknesses are different, a corresponding adjustment to
dimensions A, B and Y shall be made.
Non-captive gaskets may be used in special cases.

3 Exigences
3.1 Bornes
La borne de la bougie d’allumage doit être du type monobloc ou du type fileté tels qu’ils sont spécifiés dans
l’ISO 14508. Une bougie à borne filetée munie d’un écrou doit respecter les dimensions prescrites pour les bougies
à borne monobloc (voir figure 1).

3.2 Dimensions et filetages (voir figures 1 à 3)
3.2.1 Longueur de culot
La longueur de culot de la bougie doit être telle que donnée dans le tableau 1.

3.2.2 Joint
Après serrage des bougies avec un couple de 30 N�m (filetage propre, lisse et sec), les joints doivent avoir une
épaisseur de 1,3 mm à 2 mm. Si l’épaisseur des joints est différente, les valeurs des cotes A, B et Y doivent être
ajustées en conséquence.
Dans certains cas, des joints non prisonniers peuvent être utilisés.
