Področje oskrbe na domu na daljavo oz. t. i. "socialne alarme" obravnava skupina evropskih standardov EN 50134. Posamezni deli standardov zajemajo zahteve za opremo in postavljajo merilo za najnižjo stopnjo obsega in kakovosti storitev. V slovenščini je na voljo SIST EN 50134-7:1997. Standard daje splošna priporočila izvajalcem storitve (in njihovim podizvajalcem) za učinkovito vodenje. Nadalje podaja zahteve za opremo in postopke za namestitev, preskušanje in vzdrževanje socialnega alarmnega sistema, vključno s tehnično in organizacijsko pomočjo. Posebej so poudarjena naslednja področja: organizacija servisa oskrbe na daljavo, operativno delo servisa, odnosi z uporabniki in izvajalci pomoči, odnosi s službami nujne pomoči, drugi servisi v skupnosti in odnosi s skrbniki ključev stanovanj, dokumentiranje dela, končanje dela servisa.
