This standard gives the requirements for assessing and operating machine strength grading systems, to strength grade structural timber, and laminates forglulam. NOTE: Whilst it is permitted to use this standard to determine machine settings and to grade to any possible strength profile for a given species, this standard refers to the strength classes of EN 338 to provide suitable strength profiles and dictate the visual override requirements, necessary to make machine grading to this standard possible.

Diese Norm enthält Anforderungen für den Nachweis und den Betrieb von maschinellen Sortiersystemen nach der Festigkeit zur Sortierung von Bauholz fürtragende Zwecke und von Lamellen für Brettschichtholz. ANMERKUNG: Es ist zulässig, nach dieser Norm Maschineneinstellwerte zu bestimmen und gegebene Holzarten nach jedem möglichen Festigkeitsprofil zu sortieren. Diese Norm verweist auf die Festigkeitsklassen nach EN 338, um geeignete Festigkeitsprofileanzugeben und die Anforderungen an die visuelle Überprüfung festzulegen, welche für die maschinelle Sortierung nach dieser Norm erforderlich sind.

La présente norme donne les prescriptions pour l'évaluation et la mise en oeuvre des systèmes de classement par machine de la résistance, pour classer le bois massif et les lamelles pour lamellés-collés (Glulam). NOTE: Bien qu'il soitadmis d'utiliser la présente norme pour déterminer les réglages mécaniques et pour classer selon n'importe quel profil de résistance une essence donnée, la norme se réfère aux classes de résistance du EN 338 pour fournir des niveaux de résistance adéquats et dicter les critères visuels complémentaires à appliquer aux extrémités non classées par la machine.
