Diese Norm definiert die physikalischen und weitere, in Bezug stehende Eigenschaften eines Strichcode-Masters sowie die Qualitätskriterien, mit denen ihre Konformität zu dieser Norm zu überprüfen ist. Diese Norm enthält außerdem Richtlinien, die ihre Anwendung erleichtern. Sie umfasst alle Arten von Strichcode-Master, unabhängig von der Art der Vorlage des ursprünglichen Bilds, das zur Vervielfältigung mittels üblicher Druckverfahren verwendet werden soll.
