This European Standard applies to brake discs designed to be fitted to railway vehicles.
This European Standard comprises a type test of brake disc performance. The brake disc is tested for energy conversion and dissipation, ventilation characteristics as well as mechanical integrity.
The classification qualifies a brake disc in conjunction with the defined brake pad by dynamometer tests which simulates up to one year in service when operating in the defined application class. It does not define the application and the brake performance in specific trains.
NOTE For this purpose, additional tests may be necessary.
For the application of brake discs on railway vehicles it is not mandatory to use classified brake discs.
Classified brake discs can be validated for the use on railway vehicles for higher performance applications with additional tests.
This standard describes the type test procedure for brake disc classification as specified in EN 14535 1 and EN 14535 2.

Diese Europäische Norm gilt für Bremsscheiben, die zum Einbau an Schienenfahrzeuge konstruiert sind.
Diese Europäische Norm umfasst eine Typprüfung für das Leistungsvermögen der Bremsscheiben. Die Bremsscheibe wird im Hinblick auf die Energieumwandlung und Energiedissipation, Belüftungseigenschaften sowie die mechanische Integrität geprüft.
Die Klassifizierung qualifiziert eine Bremsscheibe in Verbindung mit den festgelegten Bremsbelägen durch Versuche an einem Reibungsprüfstand, bei denen der Betriebseinsatz von bis zu einem Jahr entsprechend der festgelegten Anwendungsklasse simuliert wird. Die Klassifizierung legt keine Anwendung und Bremsleistung bei bestimmten Zügen fest.
ANMERKUNG Für diesen Zweck können zusätzliche Prüfungen erforderlich sein.
Beim Einsatz von Bremsscheiben an Schienenfahrzeugen ist es nicht zwingend notwendig, klassifizierte Brems¬scheiben zu verwenden.
Klassifizierte Bremsscheiben können für den Einsatz an Schienenfahrzeugen mit zusätzlichen Prüfungen für Hochleistungsanwendungen validiert werden.
Diese Norm beschreibt das Verfahren der Typprüfung für die Klassifizierung von in EN 14535-1 und EN 14535-2 spezifizierten Bremsscheiben.

La présente Norme européenne s’applique aux disques de frein conçus pour équiper les véhicules ferroviaires.
La présente Norme européenne comprend un essai de type des performances du disque de frein. Le disque de frein est soumis à essai pour déterminer ses capacités de conversion et de dissipation d'énergie, de ventilation ainsi que pour vérifier son intégrité mécanique.
La classification qualifie un couple disque de frein/garniture de frein définie par des essais dynamométriques qui simulent jusqu'à un an d'utilisation en service dans la classe d'application définie. Elle ne définit pas l'application et les performances de freinage dans des trains spécifiques.
NOTE Des essais supplémentaires peuvent être nécessaires à cet effet.
Pour l'application de disques de frein sur les véhicules ferroviaires, il n’est pas obligatoire d'utiliser des disques de frein classifiés.
Les disques de frein classifiés peuvent être validés pour une utilisation sur des véhicules ferroviaires à freinages de plus haute performance moyennant des essais supplémentaires.

Ta evropski standard se uporablja za osnovni preskus razredov zmogljivosti kolutov. V tem standardu je določen kolutni par, ki se uporabi kot referenčni par. Koluti se uporabljajo v vozilih, ki obratujejo v glavnih državnih, urbanih, podzemnih, tramvajnih in zasebnih omrežjih (regionalne železniške proge, železniške proge podjetij). Klasifikacija omogoča grobo izbiro količine in zmogljivosti za nove konfiguracije potniških in tovornih vagonov ter vlakov. Obrabe in življenjske dobe ni mogoče podrobneje napovedati, ampak samo oceniti. Za določene vrednosti vedenja med obratovanjem bo v vsakem primeru treba določiti obrabo kolutnega para na podlagi preskusov z dinamometrom.
