Frequently Asked Questions
ISO/TC 131/SC 4/WG 2 is a Subcommittee within the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). It is named "Flange ports and flange connectors". This committee has published 4 standards.
ISO/TC 131/SC 4/WG 2 develops ISO standards. Currently, there are 4 published standards from this subcommittee.
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is an independent, non-governmental international organization that develops and publishes international standards. Founded in 1947 and headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, ISO brings together experts from 170+ member countries to share knowledge and develop voluntary, consensus-based standards that support innovation and provide solutions to global challenges.
A Subcommittee (SC) in ISO operates under a Technical Committee and focuses on a specific subset of the TC's scope. Subcommittees develop standards and technical specifications in their specialized area, reporting to their parent Technical Committee. They may also have working groups for detailed technical work.
This document gives general and dimensional specifications for flanged heads, flange clamps, ports and mounting surfaces applicable to four-screw, one-piece square flange clamp type tube connectors and hose fittings for use at a pressure of 42 MPa [420 bar[1]]. It also specifies the dimensions of the seals to be used, as well as the grooves that house the seals. These connections are intended for application in hydraulic systems on industrial and commercial products where it is desired to avoid the use of threaded connectors. [1] 1 bar = 0,1 MPa = 105 Pa; 1 Pa = 1 N/m2.

ISO 6162-2:2018 gives general and dimensional specifications for flanged heads, split flange clamps (FCS and FCSM), one-piece flange clamps (FC and FCM), ports and mounting surfaces applicable to four-screw, split and one-piece flange clamp type tube connectors and hose fittings for use at a pressure of 42 MPa (420 bar[1]). It also specifies the dimensions of the seals to be used, as well as the grooves that house the seals. ISO 6162-2:2018 also recognizes the need to accommodate metric screw fasteners (type 1) (for DN 13 to DN 76), as well as to provide a means to use existing inch screw fasteners (type 2) (for DN 13 to DN 51). These connections are intended for application in hydraulic systems on industrial and commercial products where it is desired to avoid the use of threaded connectors. [1] 1 bar = 0,1 MPa = 105 Pa; 1 Pa = 1 N/m2.

Gives complete general and dimensional specifications. For flange connections, a minimum design factor of 2,5 is valid with screws of property class 8.8, not including weld joints, for which special instructions exist. The design factor of the flange may be increased to 3,5 or better by using flange-head screws of property class 10.9. Also includes appropriate references to the O-ring seals and their assembly components (ISO 3601-1, ISO 48, and ISO 3601-3) as well as recommended port dimensions and port design considerations.
