CEN/CLC/WG CMI is a Working Group within the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). It is named "Continuous measuring instruments" and is responsible for: To review the EN 45544 series "Workplace atmospheres - Electrical apparatus used for the direct detection and direct concentration measurement of toxic gases and vapours" This committee has published 3 standards.
CEN/CLC/WG CMI develops CEN standards in the area of S08 - AIR QUALITY. The scope of work includes: To review the EN 45544 series "Workplace atmospheres - Electrical apparatus used for the direct detection and direct concentration measurement of toxic gases and vapours" Currently, there are 3 published standards from this working group.
The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) is a public standards organization that brings together the national standardization bodies of 34 European countries. CEN provides a platform for developing European Standards (ENs) and other technical documents in relation to various products, materials, services, and processes, supporting the European Single Market.
A Working Group in CEN is a specialized group responsible for developing standards or technical work within a defined scope. These bodies bring together international experts to create consensus-based standards that support global trade, safety, and interoperability.
This European standard specifies the performance requirements for electrical apparatus used for the direct detection and direct concentration measurement of toxic gases and vapours in workplace atmospheres. The standard test gas concentrations (STGC) used for the tests are given in 5.6 of prEN 45544-1:1998.

This European Standard specifies the performance requirements for electrical apparatus used for the direct detection and direct concentration measurement of toxic gases and vapours in workplace atmospheres. The standard test gas concentration (STGC) to be used for the tests are given in annex A of prEN 45544-1. In the instances in which no STGC is assigned in 5.6 of prEN 45544-1:1998, a STGC may be agreed between the manufacturer and test laboratory considering the National limit values.

This European standard specifies general requirements for construction and testing, and specifies the test methods that apply to personal, portable, transportable and fixed apparatus intended for the direct detection and direct concentration measurement of a toxic gas or vapour in workplace air. It applies to apparatus whose primary purpose is to indicate the presence of a toxic gas or vapour in the atmophere with a view to providing an indication or warning of the presence of a toxic hazard within a time of response as specified in prEN 45544-2 and prEN 45544-3.
